Loss of the Oil Quantity Indication on Engine 1



1. Possible Causes
· engine oil overfilling
· wiring from the oil quantity transmitter (4002EN) to the EIU 1 (1KS1)
· wiring from the circuit breaker 1EN1 to the oil quantity transmitter (4002EN) pin A/1
· XMTR-OIL QTY ( 4002EN )

A. Make sure that this(these) circuit breaker(s) is(are) closed:

B. Do the operational test of the EIU 1 with the CFDS Ref. AMM 73-25-34-710-042 .
4. Fault Isolation
Subtask 79-31-00-810-050-A
CAUTION: THIS FAULT CAN BE CAUSED AS A RESULT OF OIL OVER SERVICING. IT IS ADVISED
TO CHECK MAINTENANCE RECORDS TO MAKE SURE THAT THIS ENGINE HAS NOT
BE OVER-FILLED WITH OIL. IF ENGINE FOUND TO CONTAIN EXCESS OIL, CHECK
OIL LEVEL AND DRAIN OIL. REFER AMM TASK 12-13-79-610-011 AND AMM TASK
12-13-79-610-010.
A. If the test gives no maintenance message:
· make sure there is no engine oil overfilling Ref. AMM 12-13-79-610-011 , drain oil if necessary Ref.
AMM 12-13-79-610-010 .
· examine the harness from the oil quantity transmitter (4002EN) to the EIU 1 (1KS1) Ref.
AMM 71-50-00-210-010 .
(1) If the fault continues:
· disconnect the connector from the oil quantity transmitter (4002EN) and the EIU 1 (1KS1)
· examine the connector and receptacle
· do a continuity check and repair the:
wiring from the oil quantity transmitter (4002EN) to the EIU 1 (1KS1) pins A3, to
pins AA/8F, 8H Ref. ASM 79-36-01
wiring from the circuit breaker 1EN1 to the oil quantity transmitter (4002EN) pin
A/1 Ref. ASM 79-36-01
· reconnect the connector to the oil quantity transmitter (4002EN) and the EIU 1 (1KS1).
(2) If the fault continues:
· replace the XMTR-OIL QTY ( 4002EN ) Ref. AMM 79-31-15-000-010 and Ref.
AMM 79-31-15-400-010 .
(3) If the fault continues:
· replace the SDAC-1 ( 1WV1 ) Ref. AMM 31-55-34-000-001 and Ref. AMM 31-55-34-400-001 .
(4) If the fault continues:
· replace the SDAC-2 ( 1WV2 ) Ref. AMM 31-55-34-000-001 and Ref. AMM 31-55-34-400-001 .
(5) If the fault continues:
· replace the EIU-1 ( 1KS1 ) Ref. AMM 73-25-34-000-041 and Ref. AMM 73-25-34-400-041 .

B. Test
(1) Energize the aircraft electrical circuits
Ref. AMM 24-41-00-861-002 .
(2) Do the EIS start procedure (Upper ECAM DU and lower ECAM DU only)
Ref. AMM 31-60-00-860-001 .
(3) On the ECAM control panel, push the ENG key to get the ENGINE page.
(4) On the ENGINE page, the oil quantity indication is shown for engine 1 (no amber XX).

(1) On the ECAM control panel, set the UPPER DISPLAY and LOWER DISPLAY potentiometers to OFF
