A. Do this procedure:
1 If damage on a connector is found:

Subtask 73-29-00-810-146-B ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL NOTE: This fault is generated if one or both FMV resolver signals are out of range, invalid or the signals disagree.
(1) If the test does not give the maintenance messages J7, HMU (FMVRES), ECU + J8, HMU (FMVRES), ECU: - replace the HMU-1 [4000KC1] AMM 73-21-10-000-001 and AMM 73-21-10-400-001.
- Visually examine the HMU receptacle and the J7 and J8 harness connectors for damaged pins, contamination and fuel wetting AMM 73-21-50-210-001.
- replace or repair as required.
- replace the defective harness J7 , AMM 73-21-50-000-006 and AMM 73-21-50-400-006 or the defective harness J8 , AMM 73-21-50-000-007 and AMM 73-21-50-400-007.
- no further action is required.
- replace the ECU [4000KS] , AMM 73-21-60-000-001 and AMM 73-21-60-400-001 (if P/N prefix is 1459M55P, if not proceed to next step).
- replace the harness J7 , AMM 73-21-50-000-006 and AMM 73-21-50-400-006.
- replace the harness J8 , AMM 73-21-50-000-007 and AMM 73-21-50-400-007.
- replace the ECU [4000KS] , AMM 73-21-60-000-001 and AMM 73-21-60-400-001, if not previously replaced.
- disconnect the J7 harness from the HMU receptacle (HMU-A) (located in the left core compartment) and visually examine the J7 harness connector and the HMU receptacle for damaged pins, contamination and fuel wetting AMM 73-21-50-210-001.
- Replace or repair as required.
- replace the harness J7 , AMM 73-21-50-000-006 and AMM 73-21-50-400-006.
- Do an electrical resistance test through the HMU receptacle between:
. pins 16 and 34 (70 to 84 Ohms)
. pins 35 and 36 (21 to 29 or 44 to 76 Ohms)
. pins 18 and 37 (21 to 29 or 44 to 76 Ohms)
. pins 16 and 17 (> 10 Megohms)
. pins 35 and 17 (> 10 Megohms)
. pins 18 and 17 (> 10 Megohms)
. pin 16 and the ground (> 10 Megohms)
. pin 35 and the ground (> 10 Megohms)
. pin 18 and the ground (> 10 Megohms).
- replace the HMU-1 [4000KC1] AMM 73-21-10-000-001 and AMM 73-21-10-400-001.
- reconnect the harness J7 , AMM 73-21-50-000-006 and AMM 73-21-50-400-006 and continue the troubleshooting.

- replace or repair as required.

- replace the harness J7 , AMM 73-21-50-000-006 and AMM 73-21-50-400-006.
- disconnect the J8 harness from the HMU receptacle (HMU-B) (located in the left core compartment) and visually examine the J8 harness connector and the HMU receptacle for damaged pins, contamination and fuel wetting AMM 73-21-50-210-001.
- Replace or repair as required.
- replace the harness J8 , AMM 73-21-50-000-007 and AMM 73-21-50-400-007.
- Do an electrical resistance test through the HMU receptacle between:
. pins 16 and 34 (70 to 84 Ohms)
. pins 35 and 36 (21 to 29 or 44 to 76 Ohms)
. pins 18 and 37 (21 to 29 or 44 to 76 Ohms)
. pins 16 and 17 (> 10 Megohms)

- reconnect the harness J8 , AMM 73-21-50-000-007 and AMM 73-21-50-400-007 and continue the troubleshooting.

- replace the harness J8 , AMM 73-21-50-000-007 and AMM 73-21-50-400-007.
- replace the HMU-1 [4000KC1] AMM 73-21-10-000-001 and AMM 73-21-10-400-001 right away for dual channel fault.
- Do the troubleshooting per steps 4.A.(3) and 4.A.(4).

- Visually examine the HMU receptacle and the J7 and J8 harness connectors for damaged pins, contamination and fuel wetting AMM 73-21-50-210-002.
- replace or repair as required.
- replace the defective harness J7 , AMM 73-21-50-000-040 and AMM 73-21-50-400-040 or the defective harness J8 , AMM 73-21-50-000-041 and AMM 73-21-50-400-041.
- no further action is required.
- replace the harness J7 , AMM 73-21-50-000-040 and AMM 73-21-50-400-040.
- replace the harness J8 , AMM 73-21-50-000-041 and AMM 73-21-50-400-041.
- replace the ECU [4000KS] , AMM 73-21-60-000-001 and AMM 73-21-60-400-001, if not previously replaced.
- disconnect the J7 harness from the HMU receptacle (HMU-A) (located in the left core compartment) and visually examine the J7 harness connector and the HMU receptacle for damaged pins, contamination and fuel wetting AMM 73-21-50-210-002.
- Replace or repair as required.
- replace the harness J7 , AMM 73-21-50-000-040 and AMM 73-21-50-400-040.
- Do an electrical resistance test through the HMU receptacle between:
. pins 16 and 34 (70 to 84 Ohms)
. pins 35 and 36 (21 to 29 or 44 to 76 Ohms)
. pins 18 and 37 (21 to 29 or 44 to 76 Ohms)
. pins 16 and 17 (> 10 Megohms)

- replace the HMU-1 [4000KC1] AMM 73-21-10-000-002 and AMM 73-21-10-400-002.
- reconnect the harness J7 , AMM 73-21-50-000-040 and AMM 73-21-50-400-040 and continue the troubleshooting.

- replace or repair as required.
- Do an electrical resistance test through the J7 harness between:

- replace the ECU [4000KS] , AMM 73-21-60-000-001 and AMM 73-21-60-400-001.
- replace the harness J7 , AMM 73-21-50-000-040 and AMM 73-21-50-400-040.
- disconnect the J8 harness from the HMU receptacle (HMU-B) (located in the left core compartment) and visually examine the J8 harness connector and the HMU receptacle for damaged pins, contamination and fuel wetting AMM 73-21-50-210-002.
- Replace or repair as required.
- replace the harness J8 , AMM 73-21-50-000-041 and AMM 73-21-50-400-041.
- Do an electrical resistance test through the HMU receptacle between:
. pins 16 and 34 (70 to 84 Ohms)
. pins 35 and 36 (21 to 29 or 44 to 76 Ohms)
. pins 18 and 37 (21 to 29 or 44 to 76 Ohms)
. pins 16 and 17 (> 10 Megohms)
. pins 35 and 17 (> 10 Megohms)
. pins 18 and 17 (> 10 Megohms)
. pin 16 and the ground (> 10 Megohms)
. pin 35 and the ground (> 10 Megohms)

- replace the HMU-1 [4000KC1] AMM 73-21-10-000-002 and AMM 73-21-10-400-002.
- reconnect the harness J8 , AMM 73-21-50-000-041 and AMM 73-21-50-400-041 and continue the troubleshooting.

- replace the ECU [4000KS] , AMM 73-21-60-000-001 and AMM 73-21-60-400-001.
- replace the harness J8 , AMM 73-21-50-000-041 and AMM 73-21-50-400-041.
- replace the HMU-1 [4000KC1] AMM 73-21-10-000-002 and AMM 73-21-10-400-002 right away for dual channel fault.
- Do the troubleshooting per steps 4.A.(3) and 4.A.(4).
B. Do the test given in Para. 3.A.(1).
(1) No additional maintenance action is required if the fault is not confirmed.
(2) Repeat the fault isolation procedure if the fault continues.
