Internal Failure of the ECU on Engine 2
1. Possible Causes
- ECU [4000KS]
A. Referenced Information
| REFERENCE | DESIGNATION |
|---|---|
| AMM 73-21-60-000-001 | Removal of the Electronic Control Unit (ECU) |
| AMM 73-21-60-400-001 | Installation of the Electronic Control Unit (ECU) |
| ASM 732510 | |
| AMM 73-29-00-710-040 | Operational Test of the FADEC on the ground (with Engine Motoring) |
Subtask 73-20-00-710-171-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
A. Test
(1) Do the operational test of the FADEC 2A on the ground (with engine non motoring) AMM 73-29-00-710-040.
(2) Read the TROUBLE SHOOTING DATA of the FADEC MENU on the MCDU (Ref. 70-00-00, P. Block 301).
4. Fault Isolation(1) Do the operational test of the FADEC 2A on the ground (with engine non motoring) AMM 73-29-00-710-040.
(2) Read the TROUBLE SHOOTING DATA of the FADEC MENU on the MCDU (Ref. 70-00-00, P. Block 301).
Subtask 73-20-00-810-134-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
A. If the test gives the maintenance message ECU and the TROUBLE SHOOTING DATA gives the complementary information ECU ARINC1 OUTPUT:
Subtask 73-20-00-810-147-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL - do a check for open or short to ground of the wiring and connectors between the ECU (4000KS) and the test receptacle of the aircraft computers:
. EIU2 (1KS2) - DMC1 (1WT1)
. DMC2 (1WT2) - DMC3 (1WT3)
. FMGC1 (1CA1) - FWC1 (1WW1)
. FWC2 (1WW2) - DMU (1TV)
ASM 732510.
- repair the defective wiring.
- replace the ECU [4000KS] AMM 73-21-60-000-001 and AMM 73-21-60-400-001.
B. If the test gives the maintenance message ECU and the TROUBLE SHOOTING DATA gives the complementary information TEMPERATURE T/C or ELECTRONIC CONTROL UNIT:
Subtask 73-20-00-810-148-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL - replace the ECU [4000KS] AMM 73-21-60-000-001 and AMM 73-21-60-400-001.
C. If the test gives the maintenance message ECU and the TROUBLE SHOOTING DATA gives the complementary information P0 PRESSURE:
Subtask 73-20-00-810-149-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL - make sure that the P0 nipple on the ECU is clear and not clogged.
- replace the ECU [4000KS] AMM 73-21-60-000-001 and AMM 73-21-60-400-001.
D. If the test gives the maintenance message ECU and the TROUBLE SHOOTING DATA gives the complementary information ECU OVERTEMPERATURE:
Subtask 73-20-00-810-150-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL - replace the ECU [4000KS] AMM 73-21-60-000-001 and AMM 73-21-60-400-001.
NOTE: Before the installation of the new ECU, do a check of the ECU air cooling system to make sure that the inlet and outlet ports are not clogged.
E. During the TROUBLE SHOOTING DATA, if NVM FAULT : NO DATA RETREIVABLE information comes into view on the MCDU, do the reset of the ECU as follows:
(2) After 30 seconds, do again one time the procedure given in step (1) above.
(3) If the fault continues:
CAUTION:
WHEN THE "ENG/MASTER" LEVER IS IN THE "ON" POSITION, BE VERY CAREFUL NOT TO SET THE "ENG/MODE" SELECTOR SWITCH TO "CRANK" OR "IGN/START".
IF YOU SET THE SELECTOR SWITCH TO ONE OF THESE POSITIONS, THE ENGINE WILL START. THERE IS THUS A RISK OF INJURY TO PERSONS AND OF DAMAGE TO EQUIPMENT.
(1) On the panel 115VU, set the MASTER switch from OFF to ON then back to OFF. (2) After 30 seconds, do again one time the procedure given in step (1) above.
(3) If the fault continues:
- replace the ECU [4000KS] AMM 73-21-60-000-001 and AMM 73-21-60-400-001.
