A. Investigate the Engine after an Oil Temperature High event
(1) Use this troubleshooting procedure to investigate the engine after an oil temperature high event.
(2) Using the Multipurpose Control and Display Unit (MCDU) test the FADEC system for any recorded faults AMM 73-21-00-710-806.
(3) Any Electronic Engine Control (EEC) monitored faults are transmitted to the aircraft Centralized Fault Display Interface Unit (CFDIU). The MCDU allows interactive dialog with the EEC. Use the MCDU to review the previous flight leg fault information, scheduled maintenance fault information, ground fault information, ground scanning information and the Aircraft Condition Monitoring System (ACMS) exceedance report. If there are any faults reported troubleshoot them first.
4. Fault Isolation(1) Use this troubleshooting procedure to investigate the engine after an oil temperature high event.
WARNING:
BE CAREFUL WHEN YOU DO WORK ON THE ENGINE AFTER SHUTDOWN. THE ENGINE CAN STAY HOT FOR A LONG TIME. IF YOU DO NOT OBEY THIS WARNING, INJURY CAN OCCUR.
Subtask 71-00-00-810-139-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL A. Do the steps that follow:
(1) If the crew alert warning messages related to the engine high vibration and N1 or N2 vibration amber vibration level is reported, remove the engine from service.
(2) Use reported or recorded data to determine the oil temperature attained and the time duration at the attained temperature.
(a) Compare the data with the engine operation limits AMM 71-00-00-910-803.
(b) If the oil temperature exceeded the limits inspect the oil system AMM 72-00-00-210-811.
(3) If the maintenance messages related to the oil temperature sensor electrical failure on channel A appear with the ECAM warning for engine FADEC status maintenance and/or the ECAM warning for engine fuel heat system and amber crosses on TOIL display, refer to main oil temperature sensor electrical failure (Ref. TSM TASK 79-32-00-810-830).
(4) If the maintenance messages related to the oil temperature sensor electrical failure on channel B appear with the ECAM warning for engine FADEC status maintenance and/or the ECAM warning for engine fuel heat system and amber crosses on TOIL display, refer to main oil temperature sensor electrical failure (Ref. TSM TASK 79-32-21-810-801).
(5) If the maintenance messages related to the oil temperature sensor signal disagree appear with the ECAM warning for FADEC status maintenance, refer to main oil temperature sensor signal disagreement (Ref. TSM TASK 79-32-21-810-802).
