CAUTION: DO NOT USE THE TEACH-IN PROCEDURE AS AN ALTERNATIVE FOR TROUBLESHOOTING. A TEACH-IN PROCEDURE IS NOT A RESET PROCEDURE. BEFORE YOU DO A TEACH-IN PROCEDURE, MAKE SURE THAT YOU CORRECTED ALL FAILURES. IF YOU DO NOT OBEY THIS, FAILURES CAN CAUSE A MALFUNCTION OF THE CABIN EMERGENCY LIGHTING SYSTEM.

B. If the operational test gives the maintenance message
EPSU EXT LOAD FWD L:
   (1) If the green LED 'SYSTEM OK' comes on:
   (2) If the red LED 'EXTERIOR LIGHTS FAULT' comes on and a correct adapter cable between the escape slide and the aircraft electrical connector is available:
NOTE: A fault in one of the two forward escape slides can cause the LED to come on.
NOTE: For tests, it is necessary to use one of the items of equipment that follow:
  • A connector with four lamps (6V, 0.2 amps) in parallel
  • A connector with a 7.5 ohm, 5 watt resistor
  • A serviceable escape slide.
     (a) Do the procedures that follow:
NOTE: The step that follows gives the connection of the escape slide only. With one of the other possible items the procedure is the same.
  • connect a serviceable escape slide with the adapter cable to the pins A and B of the connector 2871.
     (b) If the fault no longer exists:
     (c) If the fault continues:
  • connect the ESCAPE SLIDE FWD L [7500MM] electrically only.
  • remove the ESCAPE SLIDE FWD R [7501MM] as necessary to get access to the electrical connector AMM 25-62-44-000-002.
NOTE: The step that follows gives the connection of the escape slide only. With one of the other possible items, the procedure is the same.
  • connect a serviceable escape slide with the adapter cable to the pins A and B of the connector 2870.
     (d) If the fault no longer exists:
     (e) If the fault continues:
  • do a check and repair the wiring between:
    escape slide connector 2870VC pin A and EPSU (10WL) pin F,
    escape slide connector 2870VC pin B and GND,
    PROX SW-HANDLE, R FWD ESC SLIDE [4WN2] pin E and EPSU (10WL) pin S,
    PROX SW-HANDLE, R FWD ESC SLIDE [4WN2] pin F and GND,

   (3) If the red LED 'EXTERIOR LIGHTS FAULT' comes on and no correct adapter cable between the escape slide and the aircraft electrical connector is available:
NOTE: A fault in one of the two forward escape slides can cause the LED to come on.
NOTE: For tests, it is necessary to use one of the items of equipment that follow:

    PROX SW-HANDLE, R FWD ESC SLIDE [4WN2] pin F and GND,

    from EPSU (10WL) pin C to the connector of the PROXIMITY SWITCH 4WN1 ,
    from EPSU (10WL) pin D to the connector of the PROXIMITY SWITCH 13WV1 ,
    from EPSU (10WL) pin S to the connector of the PROXIMITY SWITCH 4WN2 ,
    from EPSU (10WL) pin <K to the connector of the PROXIMITY SWITCH 13WV2 ,
    from EPSU (10WL) pin <Q to the connector(s) of the proximity switches,
  • if you find a short to ground in the wiring, replace the POWER-EMERGENCY SUPPLY [10WL] AMM 33-51-38-000-001 and AMM 33-51-38-400-001.

     (a) If one or more lamps of the LIGHT-FWD EMER, OVERWING (61WL) and the LIGHT-AFT EMER, OVERWING (63WL) do not come on:
       1 If the fault continues:
     (b) If all lamps of the LIGHT-FWD EMER, OVERWING (61WL) and the LIGHT-AFT EMER, OVERWING (63WL) come on and a correct adapter cable between the escape slide and the aircraft electrical connector is available:
  • remove the ESCAPE SLIDE OFFWING L [7504MM] as necessary to get access to the electrical connector AMM 25-62-42-000-001.
  • connect a serviceable escape slide with the adapter cable to the aircraft.
  • do the operational test of the emergency lights not with CIDS AMM 33-51-00-710-006.

  • if you find a short to ground in the wiring, replace the EPSU [11WL] AMM 33-51-38-000-001 and AMM 33-51-38-400-001.

  • connect a serviceable escape slide with the adapter cable to the aircraft.
  • do the operational test of the emergency lights not with CIDS AMM 33-51-00-710-006.

    from EPSU (12WL) pin <K to the connector of the PROXIMITY SWITCH 21WV2 ,

  • if you find a short to ground in the wiring, replace the EPSU [12WL] AMM 33-51-38-000-001 and AMM 33-51-38-400-001.
     (c) If the fault continues:

  • connect a serviceable escape slide with the adapter cable to the aircraft.
     (b) If the fault no longer exists:

  • connect the ESCAPE SLIDE AFT L [7502MM] electrically only.
  • remove the ESCAPE SLIDE AFT R [7503MM] as necessary to get access to the electrical connector AMM 25-62-44-000-002.
  • connect a serviceable escape slide with the adapter cable to the aircraft.
     (d) If the fault no longer exists:

  • do a check and repair the wiring between:

  • install the old ESCAPE SLIDE AFT L [7502MM] AMM 25-62-44-400-006.
  • install the old ESCAPE SLIDE AFT R [7503MM] AMM 25-62-44-400-006.

   (3) If the red LED 'EXTERIOR LIGHTS FAULT' comes on and no correct adapter cable between the escape slide and the aircraft electrical connector is available:
NOTE: A fault in one of the two aft escape slides can cause the LED to come on.

  • do a check and repair the wiring between:

    PROX SW-HANDLE, R AFT ESC SLIDE [7WN2] pin F and GND,

    PROX SW-HANDLE, R AFT PAX/CREW DOOR [17WV2] pin F and GND
    ASM 335102 and AWM 335104.
     (f) If the fault no longer exists:

  • do a check and repair the wiring between:
    escape slide connector 2873VC pin A and EPSU (13WL) pin T,
    escape slide connector 2873VC pin B and GND,
    PROX SW-HANDLE, L AFT ESC SLIDE [7WN1] pin E and EPSU (13WL) pin C,
    PROX SW-HANDLE, L AFT ESC SLIDE [7WN1] pin F and GND,
    PROX SW-HANDLE, L AFT PAX/CREW DOOR [17WV1] pin E and EPSU (13WL) pin D,
    PROX SW-HANDLE, L AFT PAX/CREW DOOR [17WV1] pin F and GND
    ASM 335102 and AWM 335104.
  • install the old ESCAPE SLIDE AFT L [7502MM] AMM 25-62-44-400-006.
  • install the removed ESCAPE SLIDE AFT R [7503MM] again AMM 25-62-44-400-006.

    from EPSU (13WL) pin F to the connector(s) of the related signs and lights,
    from EPSU (13WL) pin T to the connector(s) of the related signs and lights,
    from EPSU (13WL) pin C to the connector of the PROXIMITY SWITCH 7WN1 ,
    from EPSU (13WL) pin D to the connector of the PROXIMITY SWITCH 17WV1 ,
    from EPSU (13WL) pin S to the connector of the PROXIMITY SWITCH 7WN2 ,
    from EPSU (13WL) pin <K to the connector of the PROXIMITY SWITCH 17WV2 ,
    from EPSU (13WL) pin <Q to the connector(s) of the proximity switches,
  • if you find a short to ground in the wiring, replace the EPSU [13WL] AMM 33-51-38-000-001 and AMM 33-51-38-400-001.
     (c) If the fault continues:
