L/G - GEAR NOT DOWN Message Caused by Downlock Proximity Switch Fault (14GA thru 19GA)

TASK 32-31-00-810-882-A
L/G - GEAR NOT DOWN Message Caused by Downlock Proximity Switch Fault (14GA thru 19GA)

1. Possible Causes
  • downlock proximity sensors
  • radio altimeter fault
2. Job Set-up Information
 A. Referenced Information
REFERENCE
DESIGNATION
AMM 32-31-73-200-001
Inspection of the MLG Proximity Sensor and Target Clearances
AMM 32-31-73-200-002
Inspection of the NLG Proximity Sensor and Target Clearances
3. Fault Confirmation
Subtask 32-31-00-710-073-A
A. Test
   (1) If the L/G GEAR NOT DOWN message has been shown on the ECAM.
     (a) Do a check of the PFR.
     (b) If there are downlock TGT POS fault messages.
     (c) Do the fault isolation procedure in Para. 4.A., for the six downlock proximity sensors (14GA thru 19GA).
NOTE: The ECAM WARNING L/G GEAR NOT DOWN is a configuration warning and is not transmitted to the CFDS. It is not recorded on the PFR.
NOTE: An incorrectly adjusted downlock proximity switch can give the message L/G GEAR NOT DOWN.
NOTE: The ECAM WARNING, GEAR NOT DOWN, can be caused by a radio altimeter fault . To trouble shoot a radio altimeter fault Ref. TSM 344200.
4. Fault Isolation
Subtask 32-31-00-810-140-A
A. Procedure
   (1) Do an inspection of the applicable MLG or NLG downlock proximity-switch sensor and target clearances:
  • for the MLG downlock proximity sensors (14GA,15GA,16GA,17GA) do the procedure in the AMM AMM 32-31-73-200-001
  • for the NLG downlock proximity sensors (18GA,19GA) do the procedure in the AMM AMM 32-31-73-200-002.
NOTE: The LGCIU BITE test can not identify errors in proximity-switch target position. Differences between downlock (and uplock) proximity switches (which occur for more than 30 seconds) are sensed independently and the data is used to update the Last Leg Report, Ground Scanning and the WHEEL page.
