A. Preliminary Checks Applicable to the MLG and NLG Areas
   (1) Do a check of the NLG tire references AMM 32-41-00-910-001.
NOTE: This procedure gives the approved tire mixability conditions for the aircraft. All the other conditions are not permitted. The information is given in SB A320-32-1007.
   (2) Do a check of the tire pressure on the NLG and MLG. Make sure that the measured pressure is in the limits of the normal operating range for the two tires on a same axle AMM 32-41-00-210-003.
   (3) Do a check of the tire wear and condition on the NLG and MLG AMM 32-41-00-210-002.
NOTE: Too much difference in wear between the tires installed on the same axle can cause vibrations.
   (4) Do a check for tire slippage on the rim. Make sure that the red mark on the tire is aligned with the inflation valve or with the wheel heavy-point, if indicated.
   (5) Do a check of the wheel rims for damage.
Subtask 32-20-00-810-056-A
B. Identification of the Cause of the Vibrations
NOTE: The vibrations can come from the NLG or the MLG area. If the vibrations do not stop immediately when you set the landing gear lever to the UP position but gradually decrease, the vibrations possibly come from the NLG area. If the vibrations stop immediately when you set the landing gear lever to the UP position, the vibrations possibly come from the MLG area.
   (1) If the cause of the vibrations is in the NLG area:
     (a) Do the steps that follow only in line maintenance:
1 On the NLG wheel-axle nuts, remove the locking bolts and make sure that the NLG wheel-axle torque is correct AMM 32-41-12-400-001.
2 Jack the NLG to lift the NLG wheels off the ground AMM 07-12-00-582-001.
3 Do a check of the tire installation on the wheel rim (out-of-round).
a Usually, the tires have a "rim line" that is near the beads on all of the tire circumference. After the tire inflation and when the tire is stable, refer to this rim line to make sure that the tire is correctly installed on the rim.
b Make sure that the distance between the wheel rim and this line is the same all around the wheel assembly.
4 Remove the NLG wheels AMM 32-41-12-000-001:
  • Do a check of the condition of the NLG wheel-axle sleeves.
a If you find deep scratches, replace the axle sleeves AMM 32-41-12-000-002 and AMM 32-41-12-400-002.
b If the NLG wheel-axle sleeve is correct, send the wheel to the overhaul facility.
5 Install a new pair of NLG wheels AMM 32-41-12-400-001.
a If the check of the NLG torque-link assembly is correct:
  • Do a check of the gap at the aft NLG door AMM 32-22-00-220-002.

*If the check of the gap at the aft NLG door is correct:
*-Do a visual check of the NLG leg door-assembly attachment to make sure that there is not too much play.
*-Do a check of the NLG door adjustment AMM 32-22-00-820-001.

6 If the fault continues, send the aircraft to the hangar for a full procedure.
     (b) Do the steps that follow only in the hangar:
NOTE: If the Line Maintenance staff did no troubleshooting, we recommend that you do "Line Maintenance" and the "Hangar" steps.
1 Jack the aircraft at the forward jacking point, MLG wheels on the ground AMM 07-11-00-581-003.
  • Do a check of the NLG shock-absorber fluid-level and charge pressure ("Two-Point Check" - Aircraft on jacks to start) AMM 12-12-32-610-001 and replenish or pressurize, as necessary.
2 Do a check of the tire installation on the wheel rim (out-of-round).
a Usually, the tires have a "rim line" that is near the beads on all of the tire circumference. After the tire inflation and when the tire is stable, refer to this rim line to make sure that the tire is correctly installed on the rim.
b Make sure that the distance between the wheel rim and this line is the same all around the wheel assembly.
3 On the NLG wheel-axle nuts, remove the locking bolts and make sure that the NLG wheel-axle torque is correct AMM 32-41-12-400-001.
4 Remove the NLG wheels AMM 32-41-12-000-001:
  • Do a check of the condition of the NLG wheel-axle sleeves.

*If the check of the NLG wheel-bearing condition is correct:
*-Do a check of the quantity and quality of the NLG wheel-bearing grease in the overhaul facility.

c Do a check of the NLG wheel and tire assembly balance (refer to ISI 32.41.00002 "NLG Wheel and Tire Assembly Balancing").
5 Install a new pair of NLG wheels AMM 32-41-12-400-001.
a If the check of the NLG torque-link assembly is correct:

   (2) If the cause of the vibrations is in the MLG area:
     (a) Do the steps that follow only in line maintenance:
1 Jack the MLG to lift the MLG wheels off the ground AMM 07-12-00-582-002.
2 Do a check of the tire installation on the wheel rim (out-of-round).
