A. Introducion

During normal operation of the ECAM system, the FUEL - AUTO TRANSFER FAULT is a independent failure (or configuration) warning (Ref. ESLD 01.28.400).
NOTE: This ECAM warning is only given in certain flight phases, and is controlled by the FWC.
The FAULT legend on the P/BSW-FUEL/CTR TK/MODE SEL/AUTO (4QL) comes on (lights) approximately at the same time as the same time as the ECAM warning is given.
NOTE: The FAULT is only given with the P/BSW in the AUTO (in) position.
The above indications are given because the fuel load distribution is not correct or the fuel has not been used in the correct sequence.

The warnings will be activated if the fuel distribution for any reason is as follows:
  • the left wing tank, less than 4950 kg (10913 lb) AND the center tank, more than 300 kg (660 lb)
  • the right wing tank, less than 4950 kg (10913 lb) AND the center tank, more than 300 kg (660 lb).

The warnings will be reset if the fuel distribution for any reason changes as follows:
  • the left wing tank, more than 5000 kg (11023 lb) OR the center tank, less than 250 kg (550 lb)
  • the right wing tank, more than 5000 kg (11023 lb) OR the center tank, less than 250 kg (550 lb).

The source of the comparison logic which activates and resets this warning is contained in the FQIC(3QT).
The FQIC warning/FAULT logic output is:
  • activated and reset immediately the specified conditions are correct.
This FQIC logic is inhibited during refuel.

The FQIC warning/FAULT logic output is transmitted on:
  • two (2) ARINC bus lines to the FWC (ECAM)
  • one (1) discrete signal line to the P/BSW-FUEL/CTR TK/MODE SEL/AUTO (4QL) FAULT legend.

B. Test
   (1) Do the Functional Test of the FUEL AUTO TRANSFER FAULT of the Main Transfer System AMM 28-26-00-720-001.
     (a) If the FUEL AUTO TRANSFER FAULT warning and fault legend:

  • operate as specified, no troubleshooting work steps are necessary

  • do not operate as specified, do Para. 4.A.
4. Fault Isolation
Subtask 28-26-00-810-064-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
A. Procedure
   (1) Replace the FQIC [3QT] AMM 28-42-34-000-001 and AMM 28-42-34-400-001.
     (a) Do the test given in Para. 3.B.
   (2) Do a check of the P/BSW-FUEL/CTR TK/MODE SEL/AUTO (4QL) ASM 282602 and replace, if necessary.
     (a) Do the test given in Para. 3.B.
   (3) If the fault continues:
     (a) Do a wiring check ASM 282602 of the aircraft wiring between:
  • the FQIC rack connector 3QT-AC, pin 10K and the P/BSW-FUEL/CTR TK/MODE SEL/AUTO (4QL), terminal C1
  • the P/BSW-FUEL/CTR TK/MODE SEL/AUTO (4QL) terminals C3 and 8.
NOTE: A wiring check means that you test the wire(s) specified as follows:
NOTE: The FQIC ARINC output bus lines (1A, 1B, 2A, and 2B) are not checked. A wiring fault in the bus wiring would show as a different failure.
     (b) Repair all the unserviceable wiring and connectors ESPM 2053210.
     (c) Do the test given in Para. 3.B.
