A. Test
(1) On the ENG/APU FIRE PANEL (1WD) located on the overhead panel 20VU, make sure that the ENG 1 FIRE PUSH pushbutton switch (P/BSW) is in the closed and guarded position.
(2) On the ECAM Control Panel 11VU, push (in) the FUEL P/BSW to get the FUEL system page on the ECAM lower display unit (DU).
(3) Make sure the ENG/MASTER 1 (3KC) switch (panel 115VU) is set to OFF.
(4) On the FUEL system page make sure the ENG 1 LP fuel valve symbol shows that the valve is closed (amber crossline).
(5) Make a note of the valve transit time for the following actions:
(b) Make sure the ENG 1 LP fuel valve symbol changes to open (green in-line).
(6) Make a note of the valve transit time for the following actions:
(b) Make sure the ENG 1 LP fuel valve symbol changes to closed (amber crossline).
(7) If the ENG 1 LP fuel valve:
4. Fault Isolation(1) On the ENG/APU FIRE PANEL (1WD) located on the overhead panel 20VU, make sure that the ENG 1 FIRE PUSH pushbutton switch (P/BSW) is in the closed and guarded position.
NOTE: The LP fuel valve symbol shows a 45 degree amber line while in transit.
(a) Set the ENG/MASTER 1 (3KC) switch (panel 115VU) to ON, and immediately observe the ENG 1 LP fuel valve symbol on the FUEL system page. (b) Make sure the ENG 1 LP fuel valve symbol changes to open (green in-line).
(6) Make a note of the valve transit time for the following actions:
NOTE: The LP fuel valve symbol shows a 45 degree amber line while in transit.
(a) Set the ENG/MASTER 1 (3KC) switch (panel 115VU) to OFF, and immediately observe the ENG 1 LP fuel valve symbol on the FUEL system page. (b) Make sure the ENG 1 LP fuel valve symbol changes to closed (amber crossline).
(7) If the ENG 1 LP fuel valve:
- transit time from closed to open is 2 seconds (and the transit time from open to closed is 2 seconds), no troubleshooting work steps are necessary
- opens slowly and closes correctly, do Para. 4.A.
NOTE: The above time of 2 seconds is correct for an aircraft with a nominal supply voltage of 28VDC. If the 28VDC supply voltage is low or in ambient conditions of extreme cold the transit time of the actuator will be greater.
NOTE: You can get more data from the:

A. Procedure
(3) Do the test given in Para. 3.A.
(4) If the fault continues:
(a) Disconnect the electrical supply connector 9QG-A from the ACTUATOR-LP FUEL VALVE, ENG 1 (9QG).
1 Set the ENG/MASTER 1 (3KC) switch to ON.
2 Using a MULTIMETER - STANDARD do a check to see if 28VDC is available between the pins as shown in the table that follows.
(b) Disconnect the electrical supply connector 9QG-B from the ACTUATOR-LP FUEL VALVE, ENG 1 (9QG).
1 Do a check to see if 28VDC is available between the pins as shown in the table that follows.
(a) Correct as given in the tables above:
1 Replace the ACTUATOR-LP FUEL VALVE, ENG 1 [9QG] AMM 28-24-51-000-001 and AMM 28-24-51-400-001.
2 If the fault continues:
(7) If the fault continues:
(a) Do a wiring check AWM 282401 of the aircraft wiring between:
(c) Do the test given in Para. 3.A.
NOTE: This procedure is for a slow transit time in the OPEN direction ONLY.
If the transit time from closed to open is 4 seconds or more, and the transit time from open to closed is 2 seconds, this shows that (for a single failure case):
(1) Examine for obvious signs of damage the items that follow: If the transit time from closed to open is 4 seconds or more, and the transit time from open to closed is 2 seconds, this shows that (for a single failure case):
- the fault is an item that is unique to an actuator open line
- an unserviceable actuator.
- the actuator supply cables and end connectors
- the actuator electrical receptacles
- the cable looms next to the actuator.
NOTE: Left Wing Wire Routing AWM 940502.
(2) Repair (or replace) all the unserviceable wiring and connectors ESPM 2053210.
| SIGNAL LINE | CONNECTOR 9QG-A |
|---|---|
| MOTOR 1 OPEN 28VDC SUPPLY | A |
| MOTOR 1 GROUND | E |
NOTE: The correct operation of the LP fuel valve symbol on the FUEL system display page shows that the ground is available on pin E, of connector 9QG-A.
Also, if the ground was missing from the pin E, of connector 9QG-A, motor 1 of the actuator would not operate. In such a case the valve would move slowly in both directions powered by motor 2 only.
3 Reconnect the electrical supply connector 9QG-A to the ACTUATOR-LP FUEL VALVE, ENG 1 (9QG). Also, if the ground was missing from the pin E, of connector 9QG-A, motor 1 of the actuator would not operate. In such a case the valve would move slowly in both directions powered by motor 2 only.
(b) Disconnect the electrical supply connector 9QG-B from the ACTUATOR-LP FUEL VALVE, ENG 1 (9QG).
1 Do a check to see if 28VDC is available between the pins as shown in the table that follows.
| SIGNAL LINE | CONNECTOR 9QG-B |
|---|---|
| MOTOR 2 OPEN 28VDC SUPPLY | A |
| MOTOR 2 GROUND | E |
NOTE: If the ground is missing from the pin E, of connector 9QG-B, motor 2 of the actuator would not operate. In such a case the valve would move slowly in both directions powered by motor 1 only.
(5) If the supplies are: (a) Correct as given in the tables above:
1 Replace the ACTUATOR-LP FUEL VALVE, ENG 1 [9QG] AMM 28-24-51-000-001 and AMM 28-24-51-400-001.
2 If the fault continues:
- replace the VALVE-LP FUEL, ENG 1 [12QM] AMM 28-24-41-000-001 and AMM 28-24-41-400-001.
- do a check of the RELAY-ENG/MASTER 1 [11QG] and replace, if necessary.
(7) If the fault continues:
(a) Do a wiring check AWM 282401 of the aircraft wiring between:
- the RELAY-ENG/MASTER 1 (11QG), terminal A3, and the electrical supply connector 9QG-A, pin A (motor 1 open supply)
- the RELAY-ENG/MASTER 1 (11QG), terminal B3, and the electrical supply connector 9QG-B, pin A (motor 2 open supply).
(c) Do the test given in Para. 3.A.
