Fuel LP Fuel Valve Engine 1 Does Not Close

WARNING: WHEN YOU DO WORK ON THE FUEL SYSTEM WIRING, YOU MUST USE TEST EQUIPMENT THAT IS APPROVED (REFER TO INTERNATIONAL OR NATIONAL SPECIFICATIONS FOR INTRINSICALLY SAFE TEST EQUIPMENT: EN50020, UL913 OR EQUIVALENT). TEST EQUIPMENT THAT IS NOT APPROVED CAN CAUSE FIRE OR AN EXPLOSION.

3. Fault Confirmation
Subtask 28-24-00-720-051-A
A. Test
   (1) At the overhead panel 20VU, make sure that the ENG 1 FIRE PUSH pushbutton switch (on the ENG/APU FIRE PANEL 1WD) is in the closed and guarded position.
   (2) Get the Operational Test of the ENG 1(2) LP Fuel Valve 12QM (13QM) AMM 28-24-00-710-002.
     (a) Do the job set-up and sections of the test applicable to the Test of the Valve 12QM (the engine 1 LP valve).
       1 If the test:

  • operates as specified, do Para. 4. C.

  • shows that the motor 1 does not operate (when the C/B-3QG is opened and the operation of motor 2 prevented), do Para. 4.A.

  • shows that the motor 2 does not operate (when the C/B-1QG is opened and the operation of motor 1 prevented), do Para. 4.B.

  • shows that the motor 1 and 2 do not operate, do Para. 4.A. and 4.B.

A. Procedure

The Actuator 9QG Motor 1 Does Not Operate From The Open To The Closed Position.
   (1) Get access to the actuator 9QG AMM 28-24-51-000-001.
     (a) Make sure that the actuator 9QG and the LP valve 12QM:
  • are correctly engaged together
  • V-clamp is correctly installed.
       1 If necessary, re-install the actuator 9QG AMM 28-24-51-400-001.
     (b) Do a visual inspection for signs of damage to the items that follow:
  • the connector 9QG-A and its supply cable
  • the actuator electrical related receptacle.
NOTE: Left Wing Wire Routing AWM 940502.
       1 Replace (or do a repair of) all the unserviceable wiring and connectors ESPM 2053210.
     (c) Do the test given in Para. 3.A.
   (2) Disconnect the electrical supply cable connector 9QG-A from the ACTUATOR-LP FUEL VALVE, ENG 1 (9QG).
   (3) Do a test, with a MULTIMETER - STANDARD, to see if the 28VDC supply is available at the connector 9QG-A between the pins as shown in the table that follows:

     (a) If the supply voltage at the connector 9QG-A:

  • is correct, do step (4)

  • is not correct, do step (5).
   (4) Replace the ACTUATOR-LP FUEL VALVE, ENG 1 [9QG] AMM 28-24-51-000-001 and AMM 28-24-51-400-001.
     (a) Do the test given in Para. 3.A.
     (b) If the fault continues, replace the VALVE-LP FUEL, ENG 1 [12QM] AMM 28-24-41-000-001 and AMM 28-24-41-400-001.
     (c) Do the test given in Para. 3.A.
   (5) Do a check of and replace, if necessary, the items that follow ASM 282401:
     (a) The RELAY-ENG/MASTER 1 [11QG] .
     (b) The CTL SW-ENG/MASTER 1 [3KC] (part of ENG PNL 115VU).
     (c) The ENG/APU FIRE PNL [1WD] .
     (d) Do the test given in Para. 3.A.
   (6) If the fault continues:
     (a) Do a check of the aircraft wiring AWM 282401 between:
  • the ACTUATOR-LP FUEL VALVE, ENG 1 connector 9QG-A, pin C and the RELAY-ENG/MASTER 1 (11QG), terminal A1
  • the ACTUATOR-LP FUEL VALVE, ENG 1 connector 9QG-A, pin E and the ground point 4001VN(521STA332)
  • the RELAY-ENG/MASTER 1 (11QG), terminal A2 and the ENG/APU FIRE PANEL (1WD) connector 1WD-A, pin T
  • the ENG/APU FIRE PANEL (1WD) connector 1WD-A, pin U and the C/B-FUEL/LP VALVE/MOT 1/ENG 1 (1QG), terminal 2.
     (b) Repair all the unserviceable wiring and connectors ESPM 2053210.
     (c) Do the test given in Para. 3.A.

B. Procedure

The Actuator 9QG Motor 2 Does Not Operate From The Open To The Closed Position.
   (1) Get access to the actuator 9QG AMM 28-24-51-000-001.
     (a) Make sure that the actuator 9QG and the LP valve 12QM:
  • are correctly engaged together
  • V-clamp is correctly installed.
       1 If necessary, re-install the actuator 9QG AMM 28-24-51-400-001.
     (b) Do a visual inspection for signs of damage to the items that follow:
  • the connector 9QG-B and its supply cable
  • the actuator electrical related receptacle.
NOTE: Left Wing Wire Routing AWM 940502.
       1 Replace (or do a repair of) all the unserviceable wiring and connectors ESPM 2053210.
     (c) Do the test given in Para. 3.A.

   (4) Replace the ACTUATOR-LP FUEL VALVE, ENG 1 [9QG] AMM 28-24-51-000-001 and AMM 28-24-51-400-001.
     (a) Do the test given in Para. 3.A.
     (b) If the fault continues, replace the VALVE-LP FUEL, ENG 1 [12QM] AMM 28-24-41-000-001 and AMM 28-24-41-400-001.
     (c) Do the test given in Para. 3.A.
   (5) Do a check of and replace, if necessary, the items that follow ASM 282401:
     (a) The RELAY-ENG/MASTER 1 [11QG]
     (b) The CTL SW-ENG/MASTER 1 [3KC] (part of ENG PNL 115VU).
     (c) The ENG/APU FIRE PNL [1WD] .
     (d) Do the test given in Para. 3.A.
   (6) If the fault continues:
     (a) Do a check of the aircraft wiring AWM 282401 between:
  • the ACTUATOR-LP FUEL VALVE, ENG 1 connector 9QG-B, pin C and the RELAY-ENG/MASTER 1 (11QG), terminal B1
  • the ACTUATOR-LP FUEL VALVE, ENG 1 connector 9QG-B, pin E and the ground point 4003VN(522STA450)
  • the RELAY-ENG/MASTER 1 (11QG), terminal B2 and the ENG/APU FIRE PANEL (1WD) connector 1WD-B, pin <A
  • the ENG/APU FIRE PANEL (1WD) connector 1WD-B, pin <B and the C/B-FUEL/LP VALVE/MOT 2/ENG 1 (3QG), terminal 2.
     (b) Repair all the unserviceable wiring and connectors ESPM 2053210.
     (c) Do the test given in Para. 3.A.
Subtask 28-24-00-810-068-A
C. The Actuator 9QG does operate from the open to the closed position.
   (1) On the overhead panel 20VU, set the ENG 1 FIRE PUSH P/BSW (on the ENG/APU FIRE PANEL 1WD) to the ON position (pushed in).
   (2) On the panel 115VU, set the ENG/MASTER 1 switch to the ON position.
   (3) Use a MULTIMETER - STANDARD ASM 761201 ASM 282401 to do a check for a ground signal on the:
  • 1WD ENG/APU FIRE PANEL connector A, pin U
  • 3KC CTL SW-ENG/MASTER 1 pin 2A.
     (a) If there is no ground signal on the 1WD ENG/APU FIRE PANEL connector A, pin U:
     (b) If there is no ground signal on the 3KC CTL SW-ENG/MASTER 1 pin 2A:
  • Replace the CTL SW-ENG/MASTER 1 [3KC] (part of the panel 115VU) ESPM 2046000.
     (c) If there is a ground signal on both of the pins:
       1 Do a check of the aircraft wiring ASM 761201 between the:
  • 3KC CTL SW-ENG/MASTER 1 pin 2A and the 1KS1 EIU-1 connector AA, pin 4E
  • 3KC CTL SW-ENG/MASTER 1 pin 3A and the 1KS1 EIU-1 connector AA, pin 5A.
       2 Repair the unserviceable wiring and connectors ESPM 2053210.
     (d) On the overhead panel 20VU, set the ENG 1 FIRE PUSH P/BSW to the closed and guarded position.
     (e) On the panel 115VU, set the ENG/MASTER 1 switch to the OFF position.
     (f) Do the test given in the Para. 3. A.
