A. Test

During normal operation of the ECAM, the FUEL - AUTO FEED FAULT is a configuration warning.
NOTE: This ECAM warning is only given in certain flight phases, and is controlled by the FWC.
This warning function is activated simultaneously with the FAULT legend on the P/BSW-CTR TK/MODE SEL/AUTO (48QA).
NOTE: The ECAM WARNING is shown with the P/BSW in the AUTO (in) position, or in the MAN (out) position.
The FAULT legend is not shown with the P/BSW in the MAN position.
These indications are given because the fuel load distribution is not correct or the fuel has not been used in the correct sequence.

The warnings will be activated if for 60 seconds the fuel distribution (for any reason) is as follows:
  • the left wing tank, less than 5000 kg (11000 lb) AND the center tank, more than 250 kg (550 lb).
  • the right wing tank, less than 5000 kg (11000 lb) AND the center tank, more than 250 kg (550 lb).

The warnings will be reset immediately when the fuel distribution conditions no longer exist.

The source of the comparison logic which activates and resets this warning is contained in the FQIC (3QT).
The FQIC warning/FAULT logic output is inhibited during automatic pressure refuel.

The FQIC warning/FAULT logic output is transmitted on:
  • two (2) ARINC bus lines to the FWC (ECAM)
  • two (2) discrete signal lines OR gated together to the P/BSW-CTR TK/MODE SEL/AUTO (48QA), FAULT legend.
   (1) Examine the aircraft log/investigate the fuel configuration at the time of the original/repeat failure, and compare it with the fuel configuration given before.
   (2) Do the Functional Test of the Center-Tank Fuel Control AMM 28-21-00-720-001.
     (a) If:

  • a CTR TK PUMP 1 failure in Manual Mode is found, do Center Tank Pump-Fuel No 1 System Failure (Ref. TSM TASK 28-21-00-810-813)

  • a CTR TK PUMP 2 failure in Manual Mode is found, do Center Tank Pump-Fuel No 2 System Failure (Ref. TSM TASK 28-21-00-810-814)

  • a center tank autofeed system failure is found, do the Center Tank Autofeed System (Sequence/Distribution) Failure (Ref. TSM TASK 28-21-00-810-823)

  • the FUEL - AUTO FEED FAULT ECAM warning/FAULT legend, does not operate as specified (in the AMM Test), do Para. 4.A.

  • the center tank autofeed system operates as specified, no troubleshooting work steps are necessary.
4. Fault Isolation
Subtask 28-21-00-810-065-B ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
A. Procedure
   (1) Replace the FQIC [3QT] AMM 28-42-34-000-001 and AMM 28-42-34-400-001.
   (2) Do the test given in Para. 3.A.(2).
   (3) Do a check of ASM 282104 and replace, if necessary, the P/BSW-CTR TK/MODE SEL [48QA] .
   (4) Do the test given in Para. 3.A.(2).
   (5) If the fault continues:
     (a) Do a check of the aircraft wiring ASM 282104 between:
  • the FQIC rack connector 3QT-AB, pins 8B and 9B, and the P/BSW-CTR TK/MODE SEL/AUTO (48QA), terminal C1 (FAULT ground wire)
  • the P/BSW-CTR TK/MODE SEL/AUTO (48QA) terminals C3 and 8 (FAULT ground wire)
  • the P/BSW-CTR TK/MODE SEL/AUTO (48QA), terminal D2 and the SDAC-1 rack connector 1WV1-AA, pin 13G (AUTO/MAN wire)
  • the P/BSW-CTR TK/MODE SEL/AUTO (48QA), terminal D2 and the SDAC-2 rack connector 1WV2-AA, pin 13G (AUTO/MAN wire).
NOTE: The FQIC ARINC output bus lines (1A, 1B, 2A, and 2B) are not checked. A wiring fault in the bus wiring would show as a different failure.
     (b) Repair all the unserviceable wiring and connectors ESPM 2053210.
     (c) Do the test given in Para. 3.A.(2).
