A. Safety Precaution
WARNING: DO NOT CLOSE AN OPEN (TRIPPED) CIRCUIT BREAKER RELATED TO A FUEL-PUMP. IF YOU CLOSE THE CIRCUIT BREAKER, THERE IS A RISK:
  • OF FIRE OR OF AN EXPLOSION
  • OF DAMAGE TO THE AIRCRAFT WIRING AND STRUCTURE.
   (1) If you find the C/B-11QA has tripped (during a work step in this TSM TASK or a referenced out AMM TASK), you must:
     (a) Stop the initial work steps.
     (b) Do the TSM procedure, Fuel - L(R) Wing Tank Pumps 1, Power Supply (Smoke) - C/B-11QA(12QA) Tripped (Ref. TSM TASK 28-21-00-810-830).
     (c) Replace (or do a repair of) all the unserviceable wiring and connections ESPM 2053210 before you continue.
     (d) Close the C/B-11QA.
     (e) Continue the initial work steps.
Subtask 28-21-00-710-058-A
B. Test
   (1) Do the Operational Test of the Generator Line Contactor (GLC-1) Opening in the Smoke Procedure AMM 24-22-00-710-001.
NOTE: During the job set-up of the operational test, the left and right wing-tank fuel-pumps 1 are supplied by AC BUS 1 and DC BUS 1 (the normal operational supplies from engine 1).

During the procedure of the operational test, when the generator line contactor (GLC-1) is open (GEN 1 LINE P/BSW released out), the left and right wing-tank fuel-pumps 1 are supplied from the electrical ground power unit through the transfer circuit.
     (a) If, during the job set-up of the AMM Task referenced in step (1), the left wing-tank fuel-pump 1 symbol on the ECAM fuel page:

     (b) If, during the procedure of the AMM Task referenced in step (1), the left wing-tank fuel-pump 1 symbol on the ECAM fuel page:

  • shows an amber cross line, do Para. 4.A.

  • shows amber LO, do the procedure for the Left Wing Tank Fuel Pump No. 1 (Outer) 21QA System Malfunction (Ref. TSM TASK 28-21-00-810-801).
4. Fault Isolation
Subtask 28-21-00-810-058-B
A. Procedure
   (1) Do the initial checks as given in:

  • step (a), with a MULTIMETER - STANDARD

and/or

  • step (b), by substitution and replacement.
     (a) Do a check of the electrical circuits ASM 282101 as follows:
1 At the panel (contactor box) 107VU, remove the contactor-53QA.
2 At the contactor (relay) base 53QA-A, make sure that:

  • a ground is available at terminal Z (through the closed, de-energized, contacts of contactor-17QA, terminals 4 to 3)

  • 28VDC is available at terminal X, when the P/BSW-13QA is set to on (through the closed contacts A3 to A1).
3 Replace all the unserviceable items.
4 Make sure that the contactor-53QA removed in step 1_ is installed.
5 Do the test given in Para. 3.B.
     (b) Swap (interchange) the items listed that follow, one at a time, with those from the right wing-tank fuel-pump 1 system where applicable:
  • the CNTOR-L WING TK STBY SPLY, PUMP 1 [53QA]
  • the CNTOR-L WING TK PUMP 1 SPLY [17QA]
  • the P/BSW-FUEL/L TK PUMPS/1 [13QA]
  • the RELAY-BUS 1/ESS. L TK PUMP 1 [63QA]
  • the P/BSW-EMER ELEC PWR/GEN1 LINE [13XU] .
NOTE: The P/BSW-EMER ELEC PWR/SMOKE DRILL (13XU) is only included to complete the list of possible causes. It can only be swapped with a serviceable spare.
1 Do the test given in Para. 3.B.
2 If the fault is removed/cleared:
a Replace all the unserviceable items.
b Do the test given in Para. 3.B. for the left and right wing-tank fuel-pumps 1.
   (2) If the fault continues:
     (a) Do a wiring check ESPM 2053210 of the aircraft wiring ASM 282101 between:
  • the C/B-FUEL/SMOKE/CONFIG/PUMP CTL (55QA), terminal 2 and the RELAY-BUS 1/ESS, L TK PUMP 1 (63QA), terminal B2
  • the C/B-FUEL/SMOKE/CONFIG/PUMP CTL (55QA), terminal 2 and the RELAY-BUS 1/ESS, L TK PUMP 1 (63QA), terminal X1
  • the RELAY-BUS 1/ESS, L TK PUMP 1 (63QA), terminal X2 the P/BSW-EMER ELEC PWR/GEN 1 LINE (13XU), terminal C1
  • the RELAY-BUS 1/ESS, L TK PUMP 1 (63QA), terminal B3 and the P/BSW-FUEL/L TK PUMPS/1 (13QA), terminal A3
  • the P/BSW-FUEL/L TK PUMPS/1 (13QA), terminal A1 and the CNTOR-L WING TK STBY SPLY, PUMP 1 (53QA), terminal X
