A. Inspection/Test
   (1) Do a visual inspection/leak test to locate a possible fuel leak as follows:
     (a) Remove the necessary equipment and furnishing to get access to the cabin floor panels 241HF and 242HF (center passenger compartment).
     (b) Remove the cabin floor panels 241HF and 242HF (located between frames 36 and 42) AMM 53-32-12-000-002.
     (c) Remove the applicable air conditioning ducts, from above the wing box center section, in the area adjacent to:
  • the intersection between the left side of the fuselage frame 36 and the left wing rib 1
  • the intersection between the right side of the fuselage frame 36 and the right wing rib 1
    AMM 21-20-00-010-001.
     (d) Release and carefully pull back the applicable insulation mats/blankets in the area specified in Step (c).
     (e) Examine for indications of a fuel leak at:
  • the intersection between the left side of the fuselage frame 36 (rear face) and the left wing rib 1
  • the intersection between the right side of the fuselage frame 36 (rear face) and the right wing rib 1.
     (f) If necessary, do a leak test in the area around the sealing brackets SRM 571600, Figure 2 (Sheet 1), item 10.
Use one of the applicable procedures as follows:
     (g) Examine all the insulation mats/blankets:
  • in and adjacent to the leak area specified in Step (c)
  • on the pressurized panel between the frames 35 and 36.
     (h) Remove and discard any insulation mats/blankets contaminated with fuel.
4. Fault Isolation

A. Procedure
   (1) For a fuel leak found below the cabin floor at the left (right) side of the fuselage frame 36/wing rib 1 intersection, the options available are as follows:
     (a) Ferry Flight

A ferry flight for the aircraft to return to its main base (without repair) is allowed.
1 Remove the fuel that has leaked.
       2 Clean the work area.
3 The cabin fans must be set to on during the ferry flight.
     (b) Temporary Repair
1 Use fast curing sealant as detailed in SRM 517612 to do a temporary repair.
2 Make an entry in the aircraft technical log to record the temporary repair to this fuel leak.
NOTE: A temporary repair is limited/valid for 50 flying hours before a final repair has to be carried out.
     (c) Final Repair
1 Do a final repair as follows:
a You must read repair instructions in SRM 517612 before you do the repair.
b Do the FUEL LEAK REPAIR TECHNICAL SHEET - R571.12107.
2 On completion of the repair:
   (2) If a Temporary or Final Repair is done:
  • replace, as necessary, any fuel contaminated insulation mats/blankets found in Para. 3.
5. Close-up
Subtask 28-00-00-942-050-A
A. Close Access
   (1) Make sure the work area is clean, clear of tool(s) and other items.
   (2) Install the new, or, release, fold down and attach in their initial positions the original insulation mats/blankets.
   (3) Install the cabin air supply ducts AMM 21-20-00-410-001.
   (4) Install the cabin floor panels 241HF and 242HF AMM 53-32-12-400-002.
   (5) Install the equipment and furnishing, removed to get access to the cabin floor panels 241HF and 242HF.
   (6) Remove the ground support and maintenance equipment, the special and standard tools and all other items.
