A. Test
(1) If the CMS message IDG2 (E2-4000XU) CLOG FLTR/GCU2 (1XU2) comes into view with other CMS messages:
Do the trouble shooting procedure related to the other CMS messages.
(a) If there are no other CMS messages, do the BITE test of the EPGS AMM 24-41-00-740-002.
4. Fault Isolation(1) If the CMS message IDG2 (E2-4000XU) CLOG FLTR/GCU2 (1XU2) comes into view with other CMS messages:
Do the trouble shooting procedure related to the other CMS messages.
(a) If there are no other CMS messages, do the BITE test of the EPGS AMM 24-41-00-740-002.
Subtask 24-00-00-810-099-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
A. If the BITE test of the EPGS gives the maintenance message GCU2 (1XU2):
Subtask 24-00-00-810-100-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL - Replace GCU-2 [1XU2] , AMM 24-22-34-000-001 and AMM 24-22-34-400-001
NOTE: If the BITE test gives other CMS fault messages, do the trouble shooting procedures for all CMS fault messages. For this, refer to the CMS index list.
B. If the BITE test of the EPGS gives the maintenance message IDG2 (E2-4000XU) CLOG FLTR/GCU2 (1XU2):
Subtask 24-00-00-710-066-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL - Do a check of oil filter Differential-Pressure Indicator (DPI) of the IDG2 AMM 24-21-00-210-805.
- Do the alternate procedure (Ref. TSM TASK 24-21-00-810-815).
- Remove the IDG2 oil scavenge and charge filter-elements AMM 24-21-00-210-806.
- Do a visual inspection of the IDG2 oil scavenge and charge filter-elements AMM 24-21-00-210-807.
- Replace IDG-ENG 2 [4000XU2] AMM 24-21-51-000-803 and AMM 24-21-51-400-803.
- Drain IDG2 oil system, discard filter elements and replenish AMM 24-21-00-920-802.
- Do a check of the clogged-filter-switch sense wiring for an intermittent short to ground between pin A/3A of the GCU2 and pin B/5 of the IDG2 ASM 242101.
- Repair it.
- On the electrical receptacle of IDG2, do a check of the resistance of the oil outlet temperature-sensor between pin B/7 and pin B/8 of the IDG2 (100 ohms plus or minus 10 ohms at the ambient temperature of the IDG case) ASM 242101.
- Replace IDG-ENG 2 [4000XU2] AMM 24-21-51-000-803 and AMM 24-21-51-400-803.
- Do a check and repair the temperature sensor wiring ASM 242101:
* Pin B/7 of the IDG2 and pin A/9C of the GCU2
* Pin B/8 of the IDG2 and pin A/9D of the GCU2.
C. After the subsequent flight, make sure that the fault does not continue
NOTE: If you replaced the filter element only and if the fault continues, this means that there is an intermittent failure of the clogged-filter switch.
In this replace the IDG when another fault makes this replacement necessary (ignore the message until the IDG is replaced) and monitor the the condition of the filter with the differential pressure indicator.
