3. Fault Confirmation
Subtask 24-00-00-740-070-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
A. Test
   (1) If the CMS message IDG1 (E1-4000XU) CLOG FLTR/GCU1 (1XU1) comes into view with other CMS messages:
Do the trouble shooting procedure related to the other CMS messages.
     (a) If there are no other CMS messages, do the BITE test of the EPGS AMM 24-41-00-740-002.
4. Fault Isolation
Subtask 24-00-00-810-097-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
A. If the BITE test of the EPGS gives the maintenance message GCU 1 (1XU1):
NOTE: If the BITE test gives other CMS fault messages, do the trouble shooting procedures for all CMS fault messages. For this, refer to the CMS index list.
Subtask 24-00-00-810-098-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
B. If the BITE test gives the maintenance message IDG1 (E1-4000XU) CLOG FLTR/GCU1 (1XU1):
   (1) If the DPI is extended:
   (2) If the DPI is not extended:
     (a) If there is contamination of the IDG1 oil scavenge and/or charge filter-elements:
     (b) If there is no contamination of the IDG1 oil scavenge and charge filter-elements:
       1 If the fault continues:
  • Do a check of the clogged-filter-switch sense wiring for an intermittent short to ground between pin A/3A of the GCU1 and pin B/5 of the IDG1 ASM 242101.
         a If the wiring is not correct:
  • Repair it.
         b If the wiring is correct:
On the electrical receptacle of IDG1,
  • Do a check of the resistance of the oil outlet temperature-sensor between pin B/7 and pin B/8 of the IDG1 (100 ohms plus or minus 10 ohms at the ambient temperature of the IDG case) ASM 242101.
         c If the resistance value is out of the specified limits:
         d If the resistance value is in the specified limits:
  • Do a check and repair the oil-outlet temperature-sensor wiring ASM 242101:
    * Pin B/7 of the IDG1 and pin A/9C of the GCU1
    * Pin B/8 of the IDG1 and pin A/9D of the GCU1.
Subtask 24-00-00-710-065-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
C. After the subsequent flight, make sure that the fault does not continue
NOTE: If you replaced the filter element only and if the fault continues, this means that there is an intermittent failure of the clogged-filter switch.
In this replace the IDG when another fault makes this replacement necessary (ignore the message until the IDG is replaced) and monitor the the condition of the filter with the differential pressure indicator.
