3. Fault Confirmation
Subtask 23-12-00-710-078-B
A. Test
Do the operational test of the VHF system AMM 23-12-00-710-001.
NOTE: Do the transmission test for more than 30 s and less than 40 s to see the ECAM warning on the upper ECAM DU.
(The COM VHF 1 EMITTING message comes into view after 30 s of continuous transmission. It is then replaced by the COM SINGLE PTT STUCK message after 40 s of continuous transmission).
NOTE: Do this test at each crew station to find which station is related to the failure.
NOTE: Do this test for the VHF 1 system only.
NOTE: At the end of the test (before you do the fault isolation procedure), make sure that these controls are not in the transmit position:
  • The VHF 1 transmission pushbutton switch on an audio control panel
  • A radio PTT switch on one of the two side sticks
  • A radio PTT pushbutton switch
  • A hand mike selector.

C. Open this(these) circuit breaker(s):
C/B-FWS/FWC1/SPLY [3WW] and C/B-EIS/FWC2/SPLY [2WW] .
Close this(these) circuit breaker(s):
C/B-FWS/FWC1/SPLY [3WW] and C/B-EIS/FWC2/SPLY [2WW] .

NOTE: Only a FWC reset (or during the transition of the flight phase 1 or 10) will clear the COM SINGLE PTT STUCK ECAM alert.
After 30 s, but before 40 s (period "P"), when the VHF 1 transmission stops, this ECAM warning does not go out of view:
  • COM VHF 1 EMITTING.
During the same period "P":
  • Push the VHF 1 transmission pushbutton switch (green bars off) (on the ACP of the related station):
   (1) If the above warning goes out of view and the COM SINGLE PTT STUCK message does not come into view (after 40 s):
  • Go to Para. 4.B.
   (2) If the above warning does not go out of view, but is replaced by the COM SINGLE PTT STUCK message (after 40 s):
  • Go to Para. 4.A.
