1. Possible Causes
  • FCU [2CA]
  • wiring of the FD 1 ENGD MON OWN discrete from the FCU (2CA) to the first terminal block
  • wiring of the FD 1 ENGD COM OWN discrete from the FCU (2CA) to the FMGC 1 (1CA1)
  • DMC-1 [1WT1]
  • wiring of the FD 1 ENGD discrete from the DMC 1 (1WT1) to the first terminal block
  • FMGC-1 [1CA1]
  • wiring of the FD OWN ENGD MON OWN discrete from the FMGC 1 (1CA1) to the first terminal block

   (2) Do the EIS start procedure (PFD and ND only) AMM 31-60-00-860-001.

ACTION
RESULT
1.Make sure that the two FDs are engaged.
NOTE: If they are not engaged, push the FD pushbutton switches on the FCU.
On the upper part of the CAPT PFD:
  • the white FD 1 indication is in view.
    On the upper part of the F/O PFD:
  • the white FD 2 indication is in view.
On the FCU:
  • the two FD pushbutton switches come on.
4. Fault Isolation

A. If the FD 1 indication comes into view on the CAPT PFD and if the FD 1 pushbutton switch does not come on:
   (1) If the fault continues:
  • do a check and repair the:
    . wiring of the FD 1 ENGD MON OWN discrete from the FCU (2CA) to the first terminal block
    . wiring of the FD 1 ENGD COM OWN discrete from the FCU (2CA) to the FMGC 1 (1CA1)
    ASM 228502.

B. If the FD 1 pushbutton switch comes on and if the FD 1 indication does not come into view on the CAPT PFD:
   (1) If the fault continues:
  • do a check and repair the wiring of the FD 1 ENGD discrete from the DMC 1 (1WT1) to the first terminal block ASM 228502.

C. If the FD 1 indication does not come into view on the CAPT PFD and if the FD 1 pushbutton switch does not come on:
  • open the circuit breaker (9CA1)
  • close this circuit breaker and after 2 minutes make sure that the FD 1 is engaged.
   (1) If the fault continues:

  • do a check and repair the wiring of the FD OWN ENGD MON OWN discrete from the FMGC 1 (1CA1) to the first terminal block ASM 228502.

A. Put the aircraft back to its initial configuration.
   (1) On the overhead panel, on the ADIRS CDU, set the OFF/NAV/ATT selector switches to OFF.
   (2) On the panels 301VU and 500VU, set the PFD and ND potentiometers to OFF.
   (3) De-energize the aircraft electrical circuits
AMM 24-41-00-862-002.
Subtask 22-83-00-860-055-B ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
A. Put the aircraft back to its initial configuration.
   (1) On the overhead panel, on the ADIRS MSU, set the OFF/NAV/ATT selector switches to OFF.
   (2) On the panels 301VU and 500VU, set the PFD and ND potentiometers to OFF.
   (3) De-energize the aircraft electrical circuits AMM 24-41-00-862-002.
