Failure of the Rudder Trim/Reset Circuit of the FAC 2

1. Possible Causes
  • FAC-2 [1CC2]
  • P/BSW-RUD TRIM/RESET [8CC]
  • wiring of the RUD TR RES NO MON discrete (from the FAC 2 (1CC2) to the RUD TRIM/RESET pushbutton switch (8CC))
  • wiring of the ground signal at RUD TRIM/RESET pushbutton switch (8CC)
  • wiring of the RUD TR RES NC COM discrete (from the FAC 2 (1CC2) to the RUD TRIM/RESET pushbutton switch (8CC))
  • wiring of the ground signal

A. Test
   (1) Do the operational test of the AFS AMM 22-96-00-710-001 and read the result for the FAC2:
     (a) With the RUD TRIM/RESET pushbutton switch (8CC) pushed.
     (b) With the RUD TRIM/RESET pushbutton switch (8CC) released.
4. Fault Isolation
Subtask 22-62-00-810-075-A
A. If only the first test gives the maintenance message AFS : FAC2/RT RESET SW 8CC:
   (1) If the fault continues:
   (2) If the fault continues:
  • do a check of the wiring of the RUD TR RES NO MON discrete (from the FAC 2 (1CC2) to the RUD TRIM/RESET pushbutton switch (8CC)) ASM 226803.
     (a) If there is no continuity:
  • repair the above wiring.
     (b) If there is continuity:
  • do a check and repair the wiring of the ground signal at RUD TRIM/RESET pushbutton switch (8CC) (from pin 4 to the first terminal block) ASM 226803.

B. If only the second test gives the maintenance message AFS : FAC2/RT RESET SW 8CC:
   (1) If the fault continues:
   (2) If the fault continues:
  • do a check of the wiring of the RUD TR RES NC COM discrete (from the FAC 2 (1CC2) to the RUD TRIM/RESET pushbutton switch (8CC)) ASM 226803.
     (a) If there is no continuity:
  • repair the above wiring.
     (b) If there is continuity:
  • do a check and repair the wiring of the ground signal at RUD TRIM/RESET pushbutton switch (8CC) (from pin 6 to the first terminal block) ASM 226803.

C. If the two tests give the maintenance message AFS : FAC2/RT RESET SW 8CC:
  • do a check and repair the wiring of the ground signal from the ground point to the first terminal block ASM 226803.
