Loss of the Rudder Trim Function on the FAC 2

1. Possible Causes

wiring for 28VDC signal (pin A2) and GND signal (pin X2) at the relay (7CC2).
Wiring of the RUD TR ACT VALID signal from the FAC2 to the RT actuator and associated GND at the RT actuator.
ACTUATOR-RUDDER TRIM [10CC]
wiring of the RUD TR ACT PWR ON signal from the FAC2 to the relay 7CC2
RELAY-RUD TRIM 2 [7CC2]
wiring of the 28VDC signal from the relay 7CC2 to the RT actuator (10CC) and associated GND at RT actuator.
FAC-2 [1CC2]
wiring from the FAC 2 (1CC2) to the rudder trim actuator (10CC).
P/BSW-RUD TRIM/RESET [8CC]
wiring of the RUD TR V1 and RUD TR V2 discretes from the rudder trim actuator (10CC) to the FAC 2 (1CC2).

3. Fault Confirmation
Subtask 22-62-00-865-051-A

A. Make sure that this(these) circuit breaker(s) is(are) closed:

B. Test
(1) Open the circuit breaker 5CC2.
(2) After a minimum of 10 seconds, close the circuit breaker 5CC2.
(3) After 2 minutes, do the operational test of the AFS AMM 22-96-00-710-001 and read the result for the FAC 2.

4. Fault Isolation
Subtask 22-62-00-810-068-A

A. If the test gives the maintenance message AFS : FAC2/RT ACTR 10CC:

Do a check of the correct wiring for 28VDC signal (pin A2) and GND signal (pin X2) at the relay (7CC2). ASM 226803
Open the circuit breaker 5CC2.
Remove the FAC-2 (1CC2) AMM 22-66-34-000-002.

(1) Do a check of the continuity of the Wiring of the RUD TR ACT VALID signal from the FAC2 to the RT actuator and associated GND at the RT actuator. ASM 226803:
(a) If there is continuity:

Do a check of the resistance of the RUD TR ACT VALID signal between the pin AB/11C of the FAC-2 rack connector and the ground point DC2 AWM 226806.

NOTE: The resistance must be more than 70 Ohms.

1 If the resistance is not correct:

Do a check for the insulation ESPM 2052240 and repair if necessary.

a If the fault continues:
* Replace the ACTUATOR-RUDDER TRIM [10CC] AMM 27-22-51-000-001 and AMM 27-22-51-400-001.
* Install the above removed FAC-2 AMM 22-66-34-400-002.
2 If the resistance is correct:

Do a check of the resistance of the RUD TR ACT PWR ON signal between the pin AE/11C of the FAC-2 rack connector and the ground point DC2 AWM 226804.

NOTE: The resistance must be more than 70 Ohms.

a If the resistance is not correct:

Do a check of the correct continuity of the wiring of the RUD TR ACT PWR ON signal from the FAC2 to the relay 7CC2 ASM 226803.

If there is continuity:
* Replace the RELAY-RUD TRIM 2 [7CC2] .
* Install the above removed FAC-2 AMM 22-66-34-400-002.

If there is no continuity:
* Repair the wiring.
* Install the above removed FAC-2 AMM 22-66-34-400-002.

b If the resistance is correct:

Do a check of the correct continuity of the wiring of the 28VDC signal from the relay 7CC2 to the RT actuator (10CC) and associated GND at RT actuator. ASM 226803.

If there is continuity:
* Replace the relay 7CC2.

If the fault continues:
* Replace the FAC-2 [1CC2] AMM 22-66-34-400-002.

(b) If there is no continuity:

Repair the wiring.
Install the above removed FAC-2 AMM 22-66-34-400-002.

(2) If the fault continues:

Do a check and repair the remaining wiring from the FAC 2 (1CC2) to the rudder trim actuator (10CC). ASM 226803.

(a) If the fault continues:

Replace the P/BSW-RUD TRIM/RESET [8CC] AIPC 226708.

B. If the test does not give the maintenance message AFS: FAC2/RT ACTR 10CC:

Do the operational test of the rudder trim function AMM 22-62-00-710-001.

Subtask 22-62-00-810-069-A

C. If the rudder does not move or stop before the rudder travel limit:

Replace the FAC-2 (1CC2) AMM 22-66-34-000-002 and AMM 22-66-34-400-002.

(1) If the fault continues:

Replace the rudder trim actuator (10CC) AMM 27-22-51-000-001 and AMM 27-22-51-400-001.

(2) If the fault continues:

Do a check and repair the wiring of the RUD TR V1 and RUD TR V2 discretes from the rudder trim actuator (10CC) to the FAC 2 (1CC2). ASM 226803.
