Loss of the Rudder Trim Function on the FAC 1

TASK 22-62-00-810-809-A
Loss of the Rudder Trim Function on the FAC 1

1. Possible Causes
  • wiring for 28VDC signal (pin A2) and GND signal (pin X2) at the relay (7CC1).
  • wiring of the RUD TR ACT VALID signal from the FAC1 to the RT actuator and associated GND at the RT actuator.
  • ACTUATOR-RUDDER TRIM [10CC]
  • wiring of the RUD TR ACT PWR ON signal from the FAC1 to the relay 7CC1.
  • RELAY-RUD TRIM 1 [7CC1]
  • wiring of the 28VDC signal from the relay 7CC1 to the RT actuator (10CC) and associated GND at RT actuator.
  • FAC-1 [1CC1]
  • wiring from the FAC1 (1CC1) to the rudder trim actuator (10CC).
  • P/BSW-RUD TRIM/RESET [8CC]
  • wiring of the RUD TR V1 and RUD TR V2 discretes from the rudder trim actuator (10CC) to the FAC1 (1CC1).

Subtask 22-62-00-710-066-A
B. Test
   (1) Open the circuit breaker 5CC1.
   (2) After a minimum of 10 seconds, close the circuit breaker 5CC1.
   (3) After 2 minutes, do the operational test of the AFS AMM 22-96-00-710-001 and read the result for the FAC 1.
4. Fault Isolation
Subtask 22-62-00-810-066-A
A. If the test gives the maintenance message AFS : FAC1/RT ACTR 10CC:
  • Do a check for correct wiring for 28VDC signal (pin A2) and GND signal (pin X2) at the relay (7CC1). ASM 226803
  • Open the circuit breaker 5CC1.
  • Remove the FAC1 (1CC1) AMM 22-66-34-000-002.
   (1) Do a check of the resistance of the RUD TR ACT VALID signal between the pin AB/11C and the pin AC/3 (GND signal) of the FAC1 rack connector.
NOTE: The resistance must be more than 70 Ohms.
     (a) If the resistance is not correct:
  • Do a check for continuity of the wiring of the RUD TR ACT VALID signal from the FAC1 to the RT actuator and associated GND at the RT actuator. ASM 226803
       1 If there is continuity:
         a If the fault continues:
2 If there is no continuity:
     (b) If the resistance is correct:
  • Do a check of the resistance of the RUD TR ACT PWR ON signal between the pin AE/11C and the pin AC/3 of the FAC1 rack connector.
NOTE: The resistance must be more than 70 Ohms.
1 If the resistance is not correct:
  • Do a check for correct continuity of the wiring of the RUD TR ACT PWR ON signal from the FAC1 to the relay 7CC1. ASM 226803
         a If there is continuity:
b If there is no continuity:
2 If the resistance is correct:
  • Do a check for correct continuity of the wiring of the 28VDC signal from the relay 7CC1 to the RT actuator (10CC) and associated GND at RT actuator. ASM 226803
         a If there is continuity:
  • Replace the RELAY-RUD TRIM 1 [7CC1] .
         b If the fault continues:
   (2) If the fault continues:
  • Do a check and repair the remaining wiring from the FAC1 (1CC1) to the rudder trim actuator (10CC). ASM 226803
     (a) If the fault continues:
Subtask 22-62-00-710-067-A
B. If the test does not give the maintenance message AFS: FAC1/RT ACTR 10CC:
Subtask 22-62-00-810-067-A
C. If the rudder does not move or stops before the rudder travel limit:
   (1) If the fault continues:
   (2) If the fault continues:
  • Do a check and repair the wiring of the RUD TR V1 and RUD TR V2 discretes from the rudder trim actuator (10CC) to the FAC1 (1CC1). ASM 226803.
Subtask 22-62-00-710-068-A
D. Do the test given in Para. 4.B.
