Loss of the Rudder Travel Limiting Function on the FAC 2
1. Possible Causes
Wiring for 28VDC signal (pin A2) and GND signal (pin X2) at the relay (13CC2) - Wiring of the RTL ACT VALID signal from the FAC2 to the RTLU and associated GND signal at the RTLU

- Wiring of the RTL ACT PWR ON signal from the FAC2 to the relay 13CC2

B. Test
(1) Open the circuit breaker 5CC2.
(2) After a minimum of 10 seconds, close the circuit breaker 5CC2.
(3) After 2 minutes, do the operational test of the AFS AMM 22-96-00-710-001 and read the result for the FAC 2.
4. Fault Isolation(1) Open the circuit breaker 5CC2.
(2) After a minimum of 10 seconds, close the circuit breaker 5CC2.
(3) After 2 minutes, do the operational test of the AFS AMM 22-96-00-710-001 and read the result for the FAC 2.
Subtask 22-61-00-810-054-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
A. If the test gives the maintenance message AFS : FAC2/RTL ACTR 4CC:
b If correct, replace the RELAY-RTL SYS2 [13CC2] .
If the fault continues:
Subtask 22-61-00-810-054-D ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL - Replace the RTL electronic module on the rudder travel limitation-unit AMM 27-23-51-000-002 and AMM 27-23-51-400-002.
- Replace the rudder travel limitation-unit 4CC AMM 27-23-51-000-001 and AMM 27-23-51-400-001.
- Open the circuit breaker 5CC2
- Remove the relay 13CC2
- Close the circuit breaker 5CC2
- Do a check of the correct
Wiring for 28VDC signal (pin A2) and GND signal (pin X2) at the relay (13CC2) , if no repair it ASM 226802 - Open the circuit breaker 5CC2
- Remove the FAC-2 (1CC2) AMM 22-66-34-000-002
- Install the above removed relay (13CC2).
NOTE: The resistance must be more than 70 Ohms and not open circuit.
(a) If the resistance is not correct (< 70 Ohms or open circuit): - Do a check of the Wiring of the RTL ACT VALID signal from the FAC2 to the RTLU and associated GND signal at the RTLU ASM 226802.
- Install the above removed FAC-2 AMM 22-66-34-400-002
- Replace the RTL electronic module on the rudder travel limitation-unit (4CC) AMM 27-23-51-000-002 and AMM 27-23-51-400-002.
- Replace the LIMITATION UNIT-RUDDER TRAVEL [4CC] AMM 27-23-51-000-001 and AMM 27-23-51-400-001.
- Do a check of the resistance of the RTL ACT PWR ON signal between the pin AE/11A and the pin AC/3 of the FAC-2 rack connector, ASM 226802 and ASM 226701.
NOTE: The resistance must be more than 70 Ohms and not open circuit.
1 If the resistance is not correct (< 70 Ohms or open circuit) - Remove the relay 13CC2 (open the circuit breaker 5CC2 and close it after)
- Do a check of the Wiring of the RTL ACT PWR ON signal from the FAC2 to the relay 13CC2 ASM 226802.
- Replace the RELAY-RTL SYS2 [13CC2]
- Install the above removed FAC-2 AMM 22-66-34-400-002.
- Do a check of the Wiring of the 28VDC signal from the relay 13CC2 to the RTLU and associated GND at the RTLU ASM 226802.
b If correct, replace the RELAY-RTL SYS2 [13CC2] .
If the fault continues:
- Replace the FAC-2 [1CC2] AMM 22-66-34-400-002
- Replace the ENG 1 and ENG 2 SW-LOW OIL PRESS [4000EN] AMM 79-34-15-000-040 and AMM 79-34-15-400-040.
- Do a check and repair the remaining
Wiring from the FAC 2 (1CC2) to the rudder travel limitation-unit (4CC) ASM 226802.
A. If the test gives the maintenance message AFS : FAC2/RTL ACTR 4CC:
b If correct, replace the RELAY-RTL SYS2 [13CC2] .
If the fault continues:
Subtask 22-61-00-710-058-A - Replace the RTL electronic module on the rudder travel limitation-unit AMM 27-23-51-000-002 and AMM 27-23-51-400-002.
- Replace the rudder travel limitation-unit 4CC AMM 27-23-51-000-001 and AMM 27-23-51-400-001.
- Open the circuit breaker 5CC2
- Remove the relay 13CC2
- Close the circuit breaker 5CC2
- Do a check of the correct
Wiring for 28VDC signal (pin A2) and GND signal (pin X2) at the relay (13CC2) , if no repair it ASM 226802 - Open the circuit breaker 5CC2
- Remove the FAC-2 (1CC2) AMM 22-66-34-000-002
- Install the above removed relay (13CC2).

(a) If the resistance is not correct (< 70 Ohms or open circuit): - Do a check of the Wiring of the RTL ACT VALID signal from the FAC2 to the RTLU and associated GND signal at the RTLU ASM 226802.
- Install the above removed FAC-2 AMM 22-66-34-400-002
- Replace the RTL electronic module on the rudder travel limitation-unit (4CC) AMM 27-23-51-000-002 and AMM 27-23-51-400-002.
- Replace the LIMITATION UNIT-RUDDER TRAVEL [4CC] AMM 27-23-51-000-001 and AMM 27-23-51-400-001.
- Do a check of the resistance of the RTL ACT PWR ON signal between the pin AE/11A and the pin AC/3 of the FAC-2 rack connector, ASM 226802 and ASM 226701.
NOTE: The resistance must be more than 70 Ohms and not open circuit.
1 If the resistance is not correct (< 70 Ohms or open circuit) - Remove the relay 13CC2 (open the circuit breaker 5CC2 and close it after)
- Do a check of the Wiring of the RTL ACT PWR ON signal from the FAC2 to the relay 13CC2 ASM 226802.
- Replace the RELAY-RTL SYS2 [13CC2]
- Install the above removed FAC-2 AMM 22-66-34-400-002.
- Do a check of the Wiring of the 28VDC signal from the relay 13CC2 to the RTLU and associated GND at the RTLU ASM 226802.
b If correct, replace the RELAY-RTL SYS2 [13CC2] .
If the fault continues:
- Replace the FAC-2 [1CC2] AMM 22-66-34-400-002
- Replace the ENG 1 and ENG 2 SW-LOW OIL PRESS [4000EN] AMM 79-34-15-000-041 and AMM 79-34-15-400-041.
- Do a check and repair the remaining
Wiring from the FAC 2 (1CC2) to the rudder travel limitation-unit (4CC) ASM 226802.
B. If the test does not give the maintenance message AFS: FAC 2/RTL ACTR 4CC:
(1) If the test gives the maintenance message TAT SENSOR (11FP2)/ADIRU2 (1FP2):
Subtask 22-61-00-810-055-A (1) If the test gives the maintenance message TAT SENSOR (11FP2)/ADIRU2 (1FP2):
- Replace the SENSOR-TAT, 2 [11FP2] , AMM 34-11-18-000-001 and AMM 34-11-18-400-001.
- Do a check if any fault message related to FAC or RTL function is recorded in the PFR.
- No trouble shooting procedure is necessary.
- Replace the RTL electronic module on the rudder travel limitation-unit AMM 27-23-51-000-002 and AMM 27-23-51-400-002
- Replace the rudder travel limitation-unit (4CC) AMM 27-23-51-000-001 and AMM 27-23-51-400-001.
C. If the fault continues:
(1) Do the operational test of the rudder travel limiting function AMM 22-61-00-710-001.
(a) If the rudder does not move or stops before the rudder travel limit:
Subtask 22-61-00-710-059-A (1) Do the operational test of the rudder travel limiting function AMM 22-61-00-710-001.
(a) If the rudder does not move or stops before the rudder travel limit:
- Replace the FAC-2 (1CC2) AMM 22-66-34-000-002 and AMM 22-66-34-400-002.
- Replace the RTL electronic module of the rudder travel limitation-unit AMM 27-23-51-000-002 and AMM 27-23-51-400-002.
- Replace the rudder travel limitation-unit (4CC) AMM 27-23-51-000-001 and AMM 27-23-51-400-001.
- Do a check and repair the
Wiring of the RTL V1 and RTL V2 discretes from the FAC 2 (1CC2) to the rudder travel limitation-unit (4CC) ASM 226802.
D. Do the test given in Para. 4.B.
