A. Aircraft Maintenance Configuration
WARNING: IF IT IS NECESSARY TO ENERGIZE THE AIRCRAFT FOR A MAINTENANCE WORK WHILE YOU DO THIS MAINTENANCE PROCEDURE, MAKE SURE THAT ONLY EXTERNAL POWER IS USED. THE USE OF APU OR ENGINE POWER CAN CAUSE PRESSURIZED AIR LEAKAGE IN THE PNEUMATIC SYSTEM, AND INJURY CAN OCCUR.
   (1) On the center pedestal, on the ENG panel 115VU, make sure that a WARNING NOTICE(S) is in position to tell persons not to start the engine.
   (2) On the overhead maintenance panel 50VU, make sure that the ON legend of the ENG/FADEC GND PWR/1(2) pushbutton switch is off. Make sure that a WARNING NOTICE(S) is in position to tell persons not to energize the FADEC 1(2).
   (3) Make sure that the ACCESS PLATFORM 1M(3 FT) is in position.
   (4) On the AIR COND panel 30VU:
  • make sure that the APU BLEED pushbutton switch is released (ON legend is off),
  • make sure that a WARNING NOTICE(S) is in position to tell persons not to operate the pneumatic system.
   (5) On the HP ground connector:

F Lower Starter Duct ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
CAUTION: MAKE SURE THAT THE V-CLAMP ATTACHMENTS CAN NOT TOUCH ENGINE COMPONENTS OR STRUCTURE, TO PREVENT DAMAGE.
CAUTION: DURING INSTALLATION, ADJUST THE ORIENTATION OF THE LOWER DUCT. MAKE SURE THAT THE PS3 LINE DOES NOT TOUCH THE LOWER DUCT OR OTHER PARTS IN THIS AREA. IF IT DOES, CHAFING OF THE PS3 HOSE CAN OCCUR.
   (1) Remove the blanking plugs from the starter, the starter valve, and the two ends of the lower starter duct.
   (2) Put the lower starter duct (25) in position between the starter and the starter valve. Install the couplings (5). Tighten the couplings sufficiently to attach and hold the duct.
   (3) Put the links (30) in position on the two sides of the duct. Install the bolts (10), the washers (15), and the nuts (20).
Make sure that the washers are installed with the countersink against the bolt heads.
   (4) Adjust the links (30), as required to avoid a preload of the duct and the links.
   (5) TORQUE the nuts (20) to between 70 and 50 lbf.in (0.79 and 0.57 m.daN ) T.
   (6) Lock the links with CP8001lockwire 0.032 in. (0.8 mm) dia..
   (7) TORQUE the nuts on the couplings (5), as follows:
     (a) TORQUE the coupling nuts to between 80 and 70 lbf.in (0.90 and 0.79 m.daN )
T.
     (b) Lightly hit the perimeter of the coupling with a HAMMER - FIBER then torque the coupling nut again.
     (c) Do the torque procedure two times, then torque the coupling nut again.
