A. Aircraft Maintenance Configuration
WARNING: IF IT IS NECESSARY TO ENERGIZE THE AIRCRAFT FOR A MAINTENANCE WORK WHILE YOU DO THIS MAINTENANCE PROCEDURE, MAKE SURE THAT ONLY EXTERNAL POWER IS USED. THE USE OF APU OR ENGINE POWER CAN CAUSE PRESSURIZED AIR LEAKAGE IN THE PNEUMATIC SYSTEM, AND INJURY CAN OCCUR.
   (1) On the center pedestal, on the ENG panel 115VU, make sure that a WARNING NOTICE(S) is in position to tell persons not to start the engine.
   (2) On the overhead maintenance panel 50VU, make sure that the ON legend of the ENG/FADEC GND PWR/1(2) pushbutton switch is off. Make sure that a WARNING NOTICE(S) is in position to tell persons not to energize the FADEC 1(2).
   (3) On the AIR COND panel 30VU:
  • make sure that the APU BLEED pushbutton switch is released (ON legend is off),
  • make sure that a WARNING NOTICE(S) is in position to tell persons not to operate the pneumatic system.
   (4) On the HP ground connector:
  • make sure that a WARNING NOTICE(S) is in position to tell persons not to pressurize the pneumatic system.

A. Installation of the starter shutoff valve
   (1) Remove the blanking caps from the upper and lower ducts and the starter shutoff valve.
   (2) Remove the blanking plugs from the electrical connectors.
   (3) Clean the mating faces of the upper and lower ducts and starter shutoff valve.
   (4) Install the starter shutoff valve (50) between the upper and lower ducts.
CAUTION: DURING INSTALLATION, ADJUST THE ORIENTATION OF THE LOWER DUCT. MAKE SURE THAT THE PS3 LINE DOES NOT TOUCH THE LOWER DUCT OR OTHER PARTS IN THIS AREA. IF IT DOES, CHAFING OF THE PS3 HOSE CAN OCCUR.
CAUTION: DURING INSTALLATION, ADJUST THE ORIENTATION OF THE STARTER SHUTOFF VALVE. MAKE SURE THAT THE CLEARANCE BETWEEN THE STARTER SHUTOFF VALVE AND THE ENGINE FAN CASE STUD IS 0.30-0.35 IN. (7.6-8.9 MM). IF THE CLEARANCE IS NOT IN THESE VALUES, DAMAGE TO THE ENGINE CAN OCCUR.
     (a) Make sure that the flow arrow of the starter shutoff valve points to the starter.

PRE SB 80-0007

     (b) Make sure that the valve indexing slot is aligned with the lug of the upper duct.

END OF PRE SB 80-0007

CAUTION: MAKE SURE THAT THE DUCTS ARE CORRECTLY CONNECTED WHEN YOU TORQUE THE COUPLINGS. IF THE DUCTS ARE NOT CORRECTLY CONNECTED THEY CAN LEAK AND CAUSE DAMAGE TO ADJACENT ELECTRICAL COMPONENTS.
     (a) TORQUE the nuts to between 80 and 70 lbf.in (0.90 and 0.79 m.daN ) T
     (b) Tap the perimeter of the V-clamps with a HAMMER - FIBER and TORQUE again the nuts.
     (c) Do this torque procedure two times.
   (7) Connect the 2 electrical connectors (20) and (30) to the starter shutoff valve (50). Use PLIERS - CONNECTOR, JAW, SOFT only if necessary.
