   (1) On the center pedestal, on the ENG panel 115VU:
     (a) Put a WARNING NOTICE(S) to tell persons not to start the engine.

A. Removal of the Pneumatic Starter.
WARNING: BE CAREFUL WHEN YOU MOVE THE ENGINE STARTER. BECAUSE THE STARTER WEIGHS APPROXIMATELY 38 POUNDS (17 KG), INJURY CAN OCCUR.
CAUTION: DURING THE REMOVAL, KEEP THE STARTER PERPENDICULAR TO ITS AGB MOUTING PAD. IF YOU DO NOT, THE SEAL RING CAN SNAP OUT AND CAUSE THE SUDDEN DISENGAGEMENT OF THE STARTER BECAUSE OF ITS WEIGHT, AND THUS CAUSE DAMAGE TO THE DRIVE SHAFT. NEVER LET THE DRIVE SHAFT SUPPORT THE WEIGHT OF THE STARTER.
CAUTION: DURING STARTER REMOVAL/INSTALLATION, BE CAREFUL NOT TO CAUSE DAMAGE TO THE STARTER FUSE PIN WHEN YOU TURN/TWIST THE STARTER ASSEMBLY IN OPPOSITE CLOCKWISE/COUNTERCLOCKWISE DIRECTIONS FROM THE MOUNTING PAD. CFM RECOMMENDS THAT YOU USE THE CORRECT LEVERAGE PROCEDURES AND CORRECT TOOLS TO REMOVE/INSTALL THE STARTER ASSEMBLY FROM/ON THE AGB.
   (1) Remove V-clamp (70) which attaches the air supply duct (80) to the starter (60)
   (2) Remove starter (60) from accessory gearbox:
     (a) Remove V-clamp (10) which attaches the pneumatic starter to the AGB.
     (b) Pull carefully the starter (60) out of the AGB and remove.
   (3) Remove and discard O-ring (50) from starter output drive shaft.

PRE SB CFM56-5 72-094
   (4) Remove the seal ring assembly (40) from the AGB housing, and keep it if not damaged.

POST SB CFM56-5 72-094
   (5) Remove the seal ring assembly (40) from the AGB housing.
NOTE: The seal ring assembly (40) is made of a support (metal ring) (20) and a preformed packing (30).
   (6) If the preformed packing (30) is damaged, do as follows:
     (a) Remove the preformed packing (30) from the support (20).
     (b) Discard the preformed packing (30).
END OF SB CFM56-5 72-094
   (7) Install PLUG - BLANKING on all openings.
   (8) Send the starter to an authorized shop if maintenance on internal parts is necessary.
