A. Safety Precautions
(1) During the engine start procedure, obey all the engine safety precautions.
4. Procedure(1) During the engine start procedure, obey all the engine safety precautions.
CAUTION:
WIPE CLEAN ALL PARTS AND TOOLS AS NECESSARY TO REMOVE UNWANTED DEBRIS AND PREVENT DAMAGE TO THE ENGINE.
Subtask 80-11-00-860-051-D ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL CAUTION:
MAKE SURE THAT YOU WAITED FOR THE TIME SHOWN ON THE MCDU AFTER ENGINE SHUTDOWN BEFORE YOU START THE ENGINE WITH THE MANUAL OVERRIDE.
IF YOU DO NOT OBEY THIS INSTRUCTION, DAMAGE TO THE ENGINE CAN OCCUR.
A. Wait the necessary time after engine shutdown. (1) On the EIU 1(2)/TEST/SPECIFIC DATA page of the MCDU, select SAV MANUAL OVERRIDE. See the Sheet 1 of the Figure:
(2) On the ENG 1(2) SAV MANUAL OVERRIDE page, make sure that the START VALVE CAN BE MANUALLY OPEN indication is shown. See the Sheet 2 of the Figure:
NOTE: The ENG 1(2) SAV MANUAL OVERRIDE page (See the Sheet 3 of the Figure) gives the indication of the time until you can manually open the starter valve. If no indication of time is shown (See the Sheet 4 of the Figure), push the 3R key to know the necessary cooling time (See the Sheet 5 of the Figure).
When cooling time is NULL, make sure that the start valve can be manually open as described in paragraph 4.B.
When cooling time is NULL, make sure that the start valve can be manually open as described in paragraph 4.B.
B. Check of the Starter Air Control Valve System
(1) (a) Find the access port at the five o'clock position on the right thrust reverser inner fixed structure. See the figure:
(2) Use the maintenance interphone jack (or alternative mode) and make sure that you can communicate with the cockpit crew from the access port location.
(3) Find the DRIVE 3/8 IN - SQUARE (manual override drive) of the starter air control valve through the access port.
(a) Use a 31.5 in. (0.8 m) or more extension to turn the manual override drive.
(4) Make sure that the valve is in the closed position.
(a) The valve is spring-loaded to the closed position. Turn the square drive clockwise to CLOSE if required.
(5) Obey all the safety instructions and warnings in the engines safety precautions procedure (Ref. AMM TASK 71-00-00-910-804).
(6) Start the engine.
(7) When directed by the cockpit crew, turn the manual override with the DRIVE 3/8 IN - SQUARE counterclockwise to OPEN until you feel the stop.
(8) Hold the valve open.
(9) When directed by the cockpit crew, allow the valve to return to the closed position.
(10) Tell the cockpit crew to make sure that on the ECAM WD, the warning message ENG 1(2) START VALVE FAULT/START VALVE NOT CLOSED does not come into view.
