Removal of the Air Cooled Oil Cooler (ACOC) Modulating Valve
WARNING:
DO NOT GET THE FLUID ON YOUR SKIN OR IN YOUR EYES. IF YOU DO:
- FLUSH IT AWAY WITH CLEAN WATER
- GET MEDICAL AID.
WARNING:
BE CAREFUL WHEN YOU DO WORK ON THE ENGINE PARTS AFTER THE ENGINE SHUTDOWN. USE APPLICABLE THERMAL GLOVES. THE ENGINE PARTS CAN STAY HOT FOR ONE HOUR AFTER SHUTDOWN AND CAN BURN YOU.
WARNING:
BE CAREFUL DURING REMOVAL INSTALLATION OF THE MODULATING VALVE. IT WEIGHS 18lb (8kg).
CAUTION:
DO NOT LET ENGINE FUEL OR OIL FALL ON THE ENGINE. UNWANTED FUEL OR OIL MUST BE REMOVED IMMEDIATELY WITH A CLEAN LINT FREE CLOTH. THE FUEL OR OIL CAN CAUSE DAMAGE TO THE SURFACE PROTECTION AND TO SOME PARTS.

A. Safety Precautions
(1) On the center pedestal, on the ENG panel 115VU:
(a) Put a WARNING NOTICE(S) to tell persons not to start the engine.
(2) Make sure that the engine 1(2) shutdown occurred not less than 5 minutes before you do this procedure.
(3) On the overhead maintenance panel 50VU:
(a) Make sure that the ON legend of the ENG/FADEC GND PWR/1(2) pushbutton switch is off.
(b) Put a WARNING NOTICE(S) to tell persons not to energize the FADEC 1(2).

A. Removal of the Air Cooled Oil Cooler (ACOC) modulating valve:
(1) Disconnect the electrical connectors, the fuel tubes the drain tube and the support links from the modulating valve
(a) Disconnect the electrical connectors (4) and (5).
(b) Put the CONTAINER 10 L(2 1/2 USGAL) in position below the drain tube to catch the drained fuel.
(d) Remove the tube clip assembly nut (15), washer (16), spacer (17) and bolt (18). See Sheet 2/3 View D.
(e) Remove the tube clip assembly bolt (19), washer (20) and nut (21). See Sheet 2/3 View H.
(f) Remove the tube assembly bolt (23) and washer (22). See Sheet 2/3 View J.
(g) Disconnect the fuel tube (1) from the modulating valve. Move the tube so that it is clear of the valve.
(h) Disconnect the fuel tube (2) from the modulating valve. Move the tube so that it is clear of the valve.
(i) When the fuel has stopped draining, disconnect the drain tube (3) from the modulating valve. Move the tube so that it is clear of the valve.
(j) Remove the container and discard the drained fuel.
(k) Remove the nuts (42) and (50), the washers (41) and (47) and the bolts (40) and (46) from the support links (43), (48) and (49).
(l) Move the support links (43), (48) and (49) away from the modulating valve to give sufficient clearance to remove the valve.
(2) Remove the modulating valve from the ACOC
(a) Remove the two bolts (39) and the two washers (38).
(b) Remove the two bolts (54) and the two washers (55).
(c) Hold the weight of the modulating valve and remove the nuts (51), (56) and (33), the washers (53), (57) and (34) and the bolts (52), (58) and (36).
(d) Loosen the bolt (35).
(e) Move the bracket (37) away from the modulating valve to give sufficient clearance to remove the valve.
(f) Remove the modulating valve from the ACOC.
(3) Install COVER - PROTECTION on all the exposed openings.
(1) Disconnect the electrical connectors, the fuel tubes the drain tube and the support links from the modulating valve
(a) Disconnect the electrical connectors (4) and (5).
(b) Put the CONTAINER 10 L(2 1/2 USGAL) in position below the drain tube to catch the drained fuel.
NOTE: When the fuel tubes (1) and (2) are disconnected, some fuel will drain from the drain tube.
(c) Remove the clip assemblies. (d) Remove the tube clip assembly nut (15), washer (16), spacer (17) and bolt (18). See Sheet 2/3 View D.
(e) Remove the tube clip assembly bolt (19), washer (20) and nut (21). See Sheet 2/3 View H.
(f) Remove the tube assembly bolt (23) and washer (22). See Sheet 2/3 View J.
(g) Disconnect the fuel tube (1) from the modulating valve. Move the tube so that it is clear of the valve.
(h) Disconnect the fuel tube (2) from the modulating valve. Move the tube so that it is clear of the valve.
(i) When the fuel has stopped draining, disconnect the drain tube (3) from the modulating valve. Move the tube so that it is clear of the valve.
(j) Remove the container and discard the drained fuel.
(k) Remove the nuts (42) and (50), the washers (41) and (47) and the bolts (40) and (46) from the support links (43), (48) and (49).
(l) Move the support links (43), (48) and (49) away from the modulating valve to give sufficient clearance to remove the valve.
(2) Remove the modulating valve from the ACOC
(a) Remove the two bolts (39) and the two washers (38).
(b) Remove the two bolts (54) and the two washers (55).
(c) Hold the weight of the modulating valve and remove the nuts (51), (56) and (33), the washers (53), (57) and (34) and the bolts (52), (58) and (36).
(d) Loosen the bolt (35).

(f) Remove the modulating valve from the ACOC.
