Removal of the Upper Rod Supply Hose
WARNING:
WEAR A FACE SHIELD WHICH IS RESISTANT TO HIGH PRESSURE JETS WHEN YOU WORK ON PRESSURIZED SYSTEMS.
WARNING:
DO NOT GET THE FLUID ON YOUR SKIN OR IN YOUR EYES. IF YOU DO:
- FLUSH IT AWAY WITH CLEAN WATER
- GET MEDICAL AID.
CAUTION:
USE TWO WRENCHES TO REMOVE OR INSTALL THE TUBE COUPLING NUTS:
1. Reason for the Job- ONE WRENCH TO HOLD THE UNION, AND
- ONE TO LOOSEN OR TIGHTEN THE COUPLING NUT.

A. Safety Precautions
(1) On the center pedestal, on the ENG panel 115VU:
(a) Put a WARNING NOTICE(S) to tell persons not to start the engine.
(2) Make sure that the engine 1(2) shutdown occurred not less than 5 minutes before you do this procedure.
(3) On the overhead maintenance panel 50VU:
(a) Make sure that the ON legend of the ENG/FADEC GND PWR/1(2) pushbutton switch is off.
(b) Put a WARNING NOTICE(S) to tell persons not to energize the FADEC 1(2).
Subtask 78-31-49-010-116-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL (1) On the center pedestal, on the ENG panel 115VU:
(a) Put a WARNING NOTICE(S) to tell persons not to start the engine.
(2) Make sure that the engine 1(2) shutdown occurred not less than 5 minutes before you do this procedure.
(3) On the overhead maintenance panel 50VU:
(a) Make sure that the ON legend of the ENG/FADEC GND PWR/1(2) pushbutton switch is off.
(b) Put a WARNING NOTICE(S) to tell persons not to energize the FADEC 1(2).
B. Get Access
(1) Open the fan cowl doors: (Ref. AMM TASK 71-13-00-010-040)

(2) Put the ACCESS PLATFORM 1M(3 FT) in position.

(2) Put the ACCESS PLATFORM 1M(3 FT) in position.
Subtask 78-31-49-020-080-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
A. Removal of the Upper Rod Supply Hose
(1) Put a CONTAINER 5 L (1.32 USGAL) under the lower hydraulic actuator.
(2) Disconnect the lower rod supply hose from the actuator and let the hydraulic fluid drain into the container.
(3) Connect the lower rod supply hose to the actuator.
(4) TORQUE the coupling nut to between 150 and 130 lbf.in (1.70 and 1.47 m.daN )
.
(6) Remove the bolt that attach the upper head shield to the middle hydraulic line bracket. Remove the shield.
(7) Disconnect the upper rod supply hose from the swivel joint and the upper hydraulic actuator.
(8) Remove the upper rod supply hose from the forward frame.
(9) Put COVER - PROTECTION on the hose ends.
(1) Put a CONTAINER 5 L (1.32 USGAL) under the lower hydraulic actuator.
(2) Disconnect the lower rod supply hose from the actuator and let the hydraulic fluid drain into the container.
(3) Connect the lower rod supply hose to the actuator.
(4) TORQUE the coupling nut to between 150 and 130 lbf.in (1.70 and 1.47 m.daN )
. NOTE: Apply a witness line of finish paint EA4 blue 5991 (Material No.CP2245) on the nut and connection after they are torqued.
(5) Remove the bolt and the washer that attach the upper half clamp to the middle hydraulic line bracket. (6) Remove the bolt that attach the upper head shield to the middle hydraulic line bracket. Remove the shield.
(7) Disconnect the upper rod supply hose from the swivel joint and the upper hydraulic actuator.
(8) Remove the upper rod supply hose from the forward frame.
(9) Put COVER - PROTECTION on the hose ends.
