Removal of the Ignition Exciter
WARNING:
BEFORE YOU START WORK ON THE IGNITION SYSTEM, MAKE SURE THAT THE IGNITION EXCITERS ARE DE-ENERGIZED FOR A MINIMUM OF FIVE MINUTES. ALSO DO NOT TOUCH THE ELECTRICAL CONTACTS.
THE IGNITION SYSTEM VOLTAGE IS VERY HIGH, AND THE IGNITION EXCITERS CAN HAVE AN ELECTRICAL CHARGE EVEN WHEN NOT ENERGIZED. IF YOU DO NOT OBEY THESE PRECAUTIONS, INJURY CAN OCCUR.

A. Safety Precautions
(1) On the center pedestal, on the ENG panel 115VU:
(a) Put a WARNING NOTICE(S) to tell persons not to start the engine.
(2) Make sure that the engine 1(2) shutdown occurred not less than 5 minutes before you do this procedure.
(3) On the overhead maintenance panel 50VU:
(a) Make sure that the ON legend of the ENG/FADEC GND PWR/1(2) pushbutton switch is off.
(b) Put a WARNING NOTICE(S) to tell persons not to energize the FADEC 1(2).

A. Disconnect the Power Supply Cables and the Ignition Leads as Follows:
(1) Disconnect the power supply cable (70), (90) from the electrical input connector (60), (100) on the forward side of the ignition exciter (50) , (110).
(2) Disconnect the ignition lead (140), (130) from the ignition lead connector (40), (120) on the aft side of the ignition exciter (50), (110).
(3) Put the CAP-BLANKING on each disconnected electrical connector and receptacle.
Subtask 74-11-10-020-054-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL (1) Disconnect the power supply cable (70), (90) from the electrical input connector (60), (100) on the forward side of the ignition exciter (50) , (110).
(2) Disconnect the ignition lead (140), (130) from the ignition lead connector (40), (120) on the aft side of the ignition exciter (50), (110).
(3) Put the CAP-BLANKING on each disconnected electrical connector and receptacle.
B. Remove the nuts (20) and the washers (30) as follows:
(1) Do not let the stud (10) turn in the resilient mount (150). Hold the stud (10) with an open-end wrench. The stud flats (160) are located on the resilient mount (150) and the ignition exciter (50), (110).
(2) Remove the nuts (20) and the washers (30). Hold the stud (10) by the flats (160) and turn the nuts (20).
(3) Remove the ground straps (80) located at the forward end of the ignition exciter (50), (110).
(4) Remove the ignition exciters (50), (110).
(1) Do not let the stud (10) turn in the resilient mount (150). Hold the stud (10) with an open-end wrench. The stud flats (160) are located on the resilient mount (150) and the ignition exciter (50), (110).
(2) Remove the nuts (20) and the washers (30). Hold the stud (10) by the flats (160) and turn the nuts (20).
(3) Remove the ground straps (80) located at the forward end of the ignition exciter (50), (110).
(4) Remove the ignition exciters (50), (110).
