WARNING:
BE CAREFUL WHEN YOU DO WORK ON THE ENGINE PARTS AFTER THE ENGINE SHUTDOWN. USE APPLICABLE THERMAL GLOVES. THE ENGINE PARTS CAN STAY HOT FOR ONE HOUR AFTER SHUTDOWN AND CAN BURN YOU.

A. Safety Precautions
(1) On the center pedestal, on the ENG panel 115VU:
(a) Put a WARNING NOTICE(S) to tell persons not to start the engine.
(2) Make sure that the engine 1(2) shutdown occurred not less than 5 minutes before you do this procedure.
(3) On the overhead maintenance panel 50VU:
(a) Make sure that the ON legend of the ENG/FADEC GND PWR/1(2) pushbutton switch is off.
(b) Put a WARNING NOTICE(S) to tell persons not to energize the FADEC 1(2).
Subtask 73-22-49-010-050-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL (1) On the center pedestal, on the ENG panel 115VU:
(a) Put a WARNING NOTICE(S) to tell persons not to start the engine.

B. Get Access
(1) Open the fan cowls (Ref. AMM TASK 71-13-00-010-010):

4. Procedure(1) Open the fan cowls (Ref. AMM TASK 71-13-00-010-010):

Subtask 73-22-49-020-050-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
A. Disconnection of the Flexible Hose
(2) Disconnect the flexible hose (4) from the Electronic Engine Control (EEC) (1).
(3) Shake the end of the flexible hose to remove moisture.
(4) Remove the union (3) from the EEC sensor inlet port and discard the seal (2).
Subtask 73-22-49-020-051-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL WARNING:
USE PROTECTIVE GOGGLES AND GLOVES WHEN YOU REMOVE OR INSTALL LOCKWIRE. EACH TIME YOU CUT LOCKWIRE, REMOVE AND DISCARD IT IMMEDIATELY. LOOSE LOCKWIRE CAN CUT YOU OR MAKE YOU BLIND, AND/OR CAN CAUSE DAMAGE.
(1) Cut and discard the lockwire from the flexible hose (4) connector. (2) Disconnect the flexible hose (4) from the Electronic Engine Control (EEC) (1).
(3) Shake the end of the flexible hose to remove moisture.
(4) Remove the union (3) from the EEC sensor inlet port and discard the seal (2).
B. Purge of the Pb Sense Line through the Vent Trap(s)
PRE SBE 73-0198
(1) Purge the Burner Pressure Pb sense line through the upper vent trap.
(a) Remove the upper vent trap plug (6) and the washer (5).
(b) Blow out the vent trap plug with the NITROGEN COMPRESSED SOURCE 5 BAR (72.5 PSI) - (DRY) or the clean dry AIR SOURCE 5 BAR (72.5 PSI).
(c) Clean the plug with the clean Textile-Lint free Cotton - (Material No.14SBA1) .
(d) Blow out all contamination from the burner pressure sensor line from the EEC to the open upper vent trap with the NITROGEN COMPRESSED SOURCE 5 BAR (72.5 PSI) - (DRY) or the clean dry AIR SOURCE 5 BAR (72.5 PSI) at 72.5 psi (5 bar) for three minutes.
1 Make sure that the nitrogen or the air flows freely through the burner pressure water trap holes.
(e) During the purging, probe the vent trap hole with a piece of lockwire (Material No.V02-126) or equivalent.
1 Lightly tap the sides of the trap to remove all the remaining contamination.
(f) Install the washer (5) and the upper vent trap plug (6).
(g) TORQUE the plug to between 46 and 42 lbf.in (0.52 and 0.47 m.daN )
(Ref. AMM TASK 70-23-11-911-013).
(2) Purge the Pb sense line through the lower vent trap.
(a) Remove the lower vent trap plug (7) and the washer (8).
(b) Blow out the vent trap plug with the NITROGEN COMPRESSED SOURCE 5 BAR (72.5 PSI) - (DRY) or the clean dry AIR SOURCE 5 BAR (72.5 PSI).
(c) Clean the plug with the clean Textile-Lint free Cotton - (Material No.14SBA1) .
(d) Blow out all the contamination from the burner pressure sensor line from the EEC to the open lower vent trap with the NITROGEN COMPRESSED SOURCE 5 BAR (72.5 PSI) - (DRY) or the clean dry AIR SOURCE 5 BAR (72.5 PSI) at 72.5 psi (5 bar) for three minutes.
1 Make sure that the nitrogen or the air flows freely through the burner pressure water trap holes.
(e) During the purging, probe the vent trap hole with a piece of lockwire (Material No.V02-126) or equivalent.
1 Lightly tap the sides of the trap to remove all the remaining contamination.

(3) Purge the Pb sense line through the lower vent trap.
(a) Remove the lower vent trap plug (9).
(b) Blow out the vent trap plug with the NITROGEN COMPRESSED SOURCE 5 BAR (72.5 PSI) - (DRY) or the clean dry AIR SOURCE 5 BAR (72.5 PSI).
1 Make sure that the vent trap hole of the plug is free of contamination.
(c) Clean the plug with the clean Textile-Lint free Cotton - (Material No.14SBA1) .
(d) Blow out all the contamination from the burner pressure sensor line from the EEC to the opened lower vent trap with the NITROGEN COMPRESSED SOURCE 5 BAR (72.5 PSI) - (DRY) or the clean dry AIR SOURCE 5 BAR (72.5 PSI) at 72.5 psi (5 bar) for three minutes.
(e) Install the lower vent trap plug (9).
(f) TORQUE the plug to between 310 and 283 lbf.in (3.50 and 3.20 m.daN )

Subtask 73-22-49-020-058-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL NOTE: For engines which have the POST SBE 73-0198 and/or POST SBE 73-0246 configuration, there is no upper vent trap. You can continue from step 4.B.(3).
PRE SBE 73-0198
(1) Purge the Burner Pressure Pb sense line through the upper vent trap.
(a) Remove the upper vent trap plug (6) and the washer (5).
(b) Blow out the vent trap plug with the NITROGEN COMPRESSED SOURCE 5 BAR (72.5 PSI) - (DRY) or the clean dry AIR SOURCE 5 BAR (72.5 PSI).
(c) Clean the plug with the clean Textile-Lint free Cotton - (Material No.14SBA1) .
(d) Blow out all contamination from the burner pressure sensor line from the EEC to the open upper vent trap with the NITROGEN COMPRESSED SOURCE 5 BAR (72.5 PSI) - (DRY) or the clean dry AIR SOURCE 5 BAR (72.5 PSI) at 72.5 psi (5 bar) for three minutes.
1 Make sure that the nitrogen or the air flows freely through the burner pressure water trap holes.
(e) During the purging, probe the vent trap hole with a piece of lockwire (Material No.V02-126) or equivalent.

(a) Remove the lower vent trap plug (7) and the washer (8).
(b) Blow out the vent trap plug with the NITROGEN COMPRESSED SOURCE 5 BAR (72.5 PSI) - (DRY) or the clean dry AIR SOURCE 5 BAR (72.5 PSI).
(c) Clean the plug with the clean Textile-Lint free Cotton - (Material No.14SBA1) .
(d) Blow out all the contamination from the burner pressure sensor line from the EEC to the open lower vent trap with the NITROGEN COMPRESSED SOURCE 5 BAR (72.5 PSI) - (DRY) or the clean dry AIR SOURCE 5 BAR (72.5 PSI) at 72.5 psi (5 bar) for three minutes.
1 Make sure that the nitrogen or the air flows freely through the burner pressure water trap holes.
(e) During the purging, probe the vent trap hole with a piece of lockwire (Material No.V02-126) or equivalent.
1 Lightly tap the sides of the trap to remove all the remaining contamination.
(f) Install the washer (8) and the lower vent trap plug (7).
(g) TORQUE the plug to between 46 and 42 lbf.in (0.52 and 0.47 m.daN )

(3) Purge the Pb sense line through the lower vent trap.
(a) Remove the lower vent trap plug (9).
(b) Blow out the vent trap plug with the NITROGEN COMPRESSED SOURCE 5 BAR (72.5 PSI) - (DRY) or the clean dry AIR SOURCE 5 BAR (72.5 PSI).
1 Make sure that the vent trap hole of the plug is free of contamination.
(c) Clean the plug with the clean Textile-Lint free Cotton - (Material No.14SBA1) .
(d) Blow out all the contamination from the burner pressure sensor line from the EEC to the opened lower vent trap with the NITROGEN COMPRESSED SOURCE 5 BAR (72.5 PSI) - (DRY) or the clean dry AIR SOURCE 5 BAR (72.5 PSI) at 72.5 psi (5 bar) for three minutes.
(e) Install the lower vent trap plug (9).
(f) TORQUE the plug to between 310 and 283 lbf.in (3.50 and 3.20 m.daN )

C. Purge of the Pb Sense Line into the Engine
(1) Blow out all contamination from the burner pressure sensor line from the EEC into the engine with NITROGEN COMPRESSED SOURCE 5 BAR (72.5 PSI) - (DRY) or clean dry AIR SOURCE 5 BAR (72.5 PSI) at 72.5 psi (5 bar) for three minutes.
(a) Make sure that the nitrogen or air flows freely through the burner pressure water trap holes.
Subtask 73-22-49-420-050-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL (1) Blow out all contamination from the burner pressure sensor line from the EEC into the engine with NITROGEN COMPRESSED SOURCE 5 BAR (72.5 PSI) - (DRY) or clean dry AIR SOURCE 5 BAR (72.5 PSI) at 72.5 psi (5 bar) for three minutes.
(a) Make sure that the nitrogen or air flows freely through the burner pressure water trap holes.
D. Connection of the Flexible Hose
(1) Make sure that all the pipes, that make up the Pb line, are correctly connected.
(a) Joints that leak can let moisture into the line and cause Pb problems.
(2) Make sure that the union (3) has no debris or contamination. If necessary, clean the union with NITROGEN COMPRESSED SOURCE 5 BAR (72.5 PSI) - (DRY) or clean dry AIR SOURCE 5 BAR (72.5 PSI) at 72.5 psi (5 bar).
(3) Install a new AIPC 73-22-34-80-090 SEAL RING (2) on the union.
(4) Install the union in the EEC Pb inlet port with the external cone end toward the flexible hose (4).
(5) TORQUE the union to between 181 and 168 lbf.in (2.05 and 1.90 m.daN )
(Ref. AMM TASK 70-23-11-911-013).
(7) Install and connect the flexible hose connector to the union.
(a) Make sure that the connector is attached correctly.
(8) TORQUE the connector to between 150 and 142 lbf.in (1.70 and 1.60 m.daN )
(Ref. AMM TASK 70-23-11-911-013).
5. Close-up(1) Make sure that all the pipes, that make up the Pb line, are correctly connected.
(a) Joints that leak can let moisture into the line and cause Pb problems.
(2) Make sure that the union (3) has no debris or contamination. If necessary, clean the union with NITROGEN COMPRESSED SOURCE 5 BAR (72.5 PSI) - (DRY) or clean dry AIR SOURCE 5 BAR (72.5 PSI) at 72.5 psi (5 bar).
(3) Install a new AIPC 73-22-34-80-090 SEAL RING (2) on the union.
(4) Install the union in the EEC Pb inlet port with the external cone end toward the flexible hose (4).
(5) TORQUE the union to between 181 and 168 lbf.in (2.05 and 1.90 m.daN )

(6) Safety the union with lockwire (Material No.V02-126) . (7) Install and connect the flexible hose connector to the union.
(a) Make sure that the connector is attached correctly.
(8) TORQUE the connector to between 150 and 142 lbf.in (1.70 and 1.60 m.daN )
