Removal of the Power Plant Flexible Fuel Tubes
WARNING:
BE CAREFUL WHEN YOU DO WORK ON THE ENGINE PARTS AFTER THE ENGINE SHUTDOWN. USE APPLICABLE THERMAL GLOVES. THE ENGINE PARTS CAN STAY HOT FOR ONE HOUR AFTER SHUTDOWN AND CAN BURN YOU.
WARNING:
BE CAREFUL NOT TO GET AIRCRAFT FUEL IN YOUR MOUTH OR IN YOUR EYES.
IF YOU GET FUEL ON YOUR SKIN OR ON YOUR CLOTHES, FLUSH IT IMMEDIATELY WITH WATER.
IF NECESSARY, GET MEDICAL HELP.
AIRCRAFT FUEL IS POISONOUS.
CAUTION:
DO NOT LET ENGINE FUEL OR OIL FALL ON THE ENGINE. UNWANTED FUEL OR OIL MUST BE REMOVED IMMEDIATELY WITH A CLEAN LINT FREE CLOTH. THE FUEL OR OIL CAN CAUSE DAMAGE TO THE SURFACE PROTECTION AND TO SOME PARTS.

A. Safety Precautions
(1) On the center pedestal, on the ENG panel 115VU:
(a) Put a WARNING NOTICE(S) to tell persons not to start the engine.
(2) Make sure that the engine 1(2) shutdown occurred not less than 5 minutes before you do this procedure.
(3) On the overhead maintenance panel 50VU:
(a) Make sure that the ON legend of the ENG/FADEC GND PWR/1(2) pushbutton switch is off.
(b) Put a WARNING NOTICE(S) to tell persons not to energize the FADEC 1(2).

(a) Put a WARNING NOTICE(S) to tell persons not to start the engine.

B. Get Access
(1) Open the fan cowls (Ref. AMM TASK 71-13-00-010-010):
(a) FOR [1000EM1] (ENGINE-1)

(2) Put the ACCESS PLATFORM 2M (6 FT) - ADJUSTABLE in position
4. Procedure(1) Open the fan cowls (Ref. AMM TASK 71-13-00-010-010):
(a) FOR [1000EM1] (ENGINE-1)

(b) FOR [1000EM2] (ENGINE-2)

(2) Put the ACCESS PLATFORM 2M (6 FT) - ADJUSTABLE in position

A. Remove the flexible fuel tubes.
(1) Remove the spacer block assembly (5) as follows:
(a) Turn the screw (3) counterclockwise and release the steel band (4) from around the spacer block.
(b) Remove the spacer block from around the fuel tubes (1) and (2).
(3) Remove the fuel tube (1) as follows:
(b) Remove the bolts (6) and the washers (7) that attach the fuel tube to the pylon interface.
(c) Remove the fuel tube and discard the gasket (8).
(4) Remove the fuel tube (2) as follows:
(b) Remove the bolts (11) and the washers (10) that attach the fuel tube to the pylon interface.
(c) Remove the fuel tube and discard the gasket (9).
Subtask 73-11-48-620-050-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL (1) Remove the spacer block assembly (5) as follows:
(a) Turn the screw (3) counterclockwise and release the steel band (4) from around the spacer block.
(b) Remove the spacer block from around the fuel tubes (1) and (2).
WARNING:
USE PROTECTIVE GOGGLES AND GLOVES WHEN YOU REMOVE OR INSTALL LOCKWIRE. EACH TIME YOU CUT LOCKWIRE, REMOVE AND DISCARD IT IMMEDIATELY. LOOSE LOCKWIRE CAN CUT YOU OR MAKE YOU BLIND, AND/OR CAN CAUSE DAMAGE.
(2) Remove and discard the lockwire from the fuel tube (1) and fuel tube (2) connectors.(3) Remove the fuel tube (1) as follows:
CAUTION:
HOLD THE UNION DURING THE DISCONNECT PROCEDURE TO PREVENT DAMAGE TO THE RIGID FUEL TUBE.
(a) Disconnect the fuel tube from the union (14) on the mounting bracket (13). Drain the fuel into the clean CONTAINER 4 L (1 USGAL). (b) Remove the bolts (6) and the washers (7) that attach the fuel tube to the pylon interface.
(c) Remove the fuel tube and discard the gasket (8).
(4) Remove the fuel tube (2) as follows:
CAUTION:
HOLD THE UNION DURING THE DISCONNECT PROCEDURE TO PREVENT DAMAGE TO THE RIGID FUEL TUBE.
(a) Disconnect the fuel tube from the union (12) on the mounting bracket. Drain the fuel into the clean CONTAINER 4 L (1 USGAL). (b) Remove the bolts (11) and the washers (10) that attach the fuel tube to the pylon interface.
(c) Remove the fuel tube and discard the gasket (9).
B. Install the applicable caps/covers/plugs on all the openings.
