General Check of the Power Plant Rigid Fuel Tubes
WARNING:
BE CAREFUL WHEN YOU DO WORK ON THE ENGINE PARTS AFTER THE ENGINE SHUTDOWN. USE APPLICABLE THERMAL GLOVES. THE ENGINE PARTS CAN STAY HOT FOR ONE HOUR AFTER SHUTDOWN AND CAN BURN YOU.

A. Safety Precautions
(1) On the center pedestal, on the ENG panel 115VU:
(a) Put a WARNING NOTICE(S) to tell persons not to start the engine.
(2) Make sure that the engine 1(2) shutdown occurred not less than 5 minutes before you do this procedure.
(3) On the overhead maintenance panel 50VU:
(a) Make sure that the ON legend of the ENG/FADEC GND PWR/1(2) pushbutton switch is off.
(b) Put a WARNING NOTICE(S) to tell persons not to energize the FADEC 1(2).

(a) Put a WARNING NOTICE(S) to tell persons not to start the engine.

B. Get Access
(1) Open the fan cowls (Ref. AMM TASK 71-13-00-010-010):

(2) Put the ACCESS PLATFORM 2M (6 FT) - ADJUSTABLE in position on the left side of the engine.
Subtask 73-11-47-110-050-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL (1) Open the fan cowls (Ref. AMM TASK 71-13-00-010-010):
(a) FOR [1000EM1] (ENGINE-1)

(2) Put the ACCESS PLATFORM 2M (6 FT) - ADJUSTABLE in position on the left side of the engine.
C. Clean the rigid fuel tubes
(1) Use a clean Textile-Lint free Cotton - (Material No.14SBA1) made moist with cleaning fluid (Material No.V01-002) to clean the rigid fuel tubes (1) and (2).
(2) Dry the fuel tubes with a clean Textile-Lint free Cotton - (Material No.14SBA1) .
4. Procedure(1) Use a clean Textile-Lint free Cotton - (Material No.14SBA1) made moist with cleaning fluid (Material No.V01-002) to clean the rigid fuel tubes (1) and (2).
(2) Dry the fuel tubes with a clean Textile-Lint free Cotton - (Material No.14SBA1) .

A. Examine the rigid fuel tubes with the LIGHT SOURCE - INSPECTION and the MIRROR - INSPECTION
(1) Examine the fuel tubes (1) and (2) for security of attachment.
(a) If the fuel tubes are loose, examine these items of damage, wear and loss of torque:
1 The attachment bolts.
2 The attachment clips.
3 The lockwire that safeties the connectors.
4 The union nuts and the unions.

6 The attachment bracket.
(b) If one (some) of the items has (have) damage or wear, reject it (them).
(2) Examine the rigid fuel tubes (1) and (2) connections for leaks. No leaks are permitted.
(a) If leaks are found:
1 Examine the attachment bolts and the union nuts for loss of torque.
2 If there is a loss of torque, examine the attachment bolts and the union nuts for damage and wear.
3 If damage or wear is found, reject it (them).
(3) Examine the general condition of the rigid fuel tubes (1) and (2)
(a) Examine the fuel tubes for cracks, dents or damage.
1 If the tube(s) has (have) cracks, reject it (them).
2 If the tube(s) has (have) dents, do as follows:
a Dents less than 0.050 in. (1.270 mm) deep with the radius of the dent more than 0.056 in. (1.422 mm), accept it.
b Dents more than 0.050 in. (1.270 mm) deep or the radius of the dent less than 0.056 in. (1.422 mm), reject it.
5. Close-up(1) Examine the fuel tubes (1) and (2) for security of attachment.
(a) If the fuel tubes are loose, examine these items of damage, wear and loss of torque:
1 The attachment bolts.
2 The attachment clips.
3 The lockwire that safeties the connectors.
4 The union nuts and the unions.

2 If the tube(s) has (have) dents, do as follows:

(1) Make sure that the work area is clean and clear of tools and other items.
(2) Close the fan cowls (Ref. AMM TASK 71-13-00-410-010)

(3) Remove the WARNING NOTICE(S).
(4) Remove the access platform(s).
(1) Make sure that the work area is clean and clear of tools and other items.
(2) Close the fan cowls (Ref. AMM TASK 71-13-00-410-010)
