Removal of the Dedicated Alternator Drive Gear Assembly
WARNING:
DO NOT LET ENGINE OIL STAY ON YOUR SKIN FOR A LONG TIME. FLUSH THE OIL FROM YOUR SKIN WITH WATER. THE OIL IS POISONOUS AND CAN GO THROUGH YOUR SKIN AND INTO YOUR BODY.
WARNING:
BE CAREFUL WHEN YOU DO WORK ON THE ENGINE PARTS AFTER THE ENGINE SHUTDOWN. USE APPLICABLE THERMAL GLOVES. THE ENGINE PARTS CAN STAY HOT FOR ONE HOUR AFTER SHUTDOWN AND CAN BURN YOU.
CAUTION:
DO NOT LET ENGINE FUEL OR OIL FALL ON THE ENGINE. UNWANTED FUEL OR OIL MUST BE REMOVED IMMEDIATELY WITH A CLEAN LINT FREE CLOTH. THE FUEL OR OIL CAN CAUSE DAMAGE TO THE SURFACE PROTECTION AND TO SOME PARTS.

A. Safety Precautions
(1) On the center pedestal, on the ENG panel 115VU:
(a) Put a WARNING NOTICE(S) to tell persons not to start the engine.
(2) Make sure that the engine 1(2) shutdown occurred not less than 5 minutes before you do this procedure.
(3) On the overhead maintenance panel 50VU:
(a) Make sure that the ON legend of the ENG/FADEC GND PWR/1(2) pushbutton switch is off.
(b) Put a WARNING NOTICE(S) to tell persons not to energize the FADEC 1(2).

(a) Put a WARNING NOTICE(S) to tell persons not to start the engine.
(2) Make sure that the engine 1(2) shutdown occurred not less than 5 minutes before you do this procedure.

B. Open the fan cowls (Ref. AMM TASK 71-13-00-010-010).

A. Removal of the Dedicated Alternator Drive Gear Assembly:
(1) Remove the oil pressure tube:
(a) Put the clean CONTAINER 5 L (1.32 USGAL) in position to catch the oil which drains from the oil pressure tube (4).
(b) Cut and remove the wire and disconnect the oil pressure tube (4) from the angle gearbox and from the dedicated alternator drive gear assembly (6).
(c) Remove the oil pressure tube (4).
(d) Remove the container and discard the drained oil.
(2) Remove the dedicated alternator drive gear assembly
(a) Remove the two nuts (8) which attach the bracket (1) to the bracket (9).
(b) Remove the three nuts (7) which attach the EDA drive gear assembly (6) to the drive housing (2).
(c) Remove the bracket (1) from the EDA drive gear assembly (6).
(d) Disengage the flange of the EDA drive gear assembly (6) from the drive housing (2).
(e) Remove the EDA drive gear assembly (6) from the drive housing (2).
(f) Remove and discard the packings (3) and (5).
(3) Install COVER - PROTECTION to all exposed openings.
(1) Remove the oil pressure tube:
(a) Put the clean CONTAINER 5 L (1.32 USGAL) in position to catch the oil which drains from the oil pressure tube (4).
(b) Cut and remove the wire and disconnect the oil pressure tube (4) from the angle gearbox and from the dedicated alternator drive gear assembly (6).
(c) Remove the oil pressure tube (4).
(d) Remove the container and discard the drained oil.
(2) Remove the dedicated alternator drive gear assembly
(a) Remove the two nuts (8) which attach the bracket (1) to the bracket (9).
(b) Remove the three nuts (7) which attach the EDA drive gear assembly (6) to the drive housing (2).
(c) Remove the bracket (1) from the EDA drive gear assembly (6).
(d) Disengage the flange of the EDA drive gear assembly (6) from the drive housing (2).
(e) Remove the EDA drive gear assembly (6) from the drive housing (2).
(f) Remove and discard the packings (3) and (5).
(3) Install COVER - PROTECTION to all exposed openings.
