Installation of the Seal Assembly
WARNING:
BE CAREFUL WHEN YOU DO WORK ON THE ENGINE PARTS AFTER THE ENGINE SHUTDOWN. USE APPLICABLE THERMAL GLOVES. THE ENGINE PARTS CAN STAY HOT FOR ONE HOUR AFTER SHUTDOWN AND CAN BURN YOU.
WARNING:
DO NOT LET ENGINE OIL STAY ON YOUR SKIN FOR A LONG TIME. FLUSH THE OIL FROM YOUR SKIN WITH WATER. THE OIL IS POISONOUS AND CAN GO THROUGH YOUR SKIN AND INTO YOUR BODY.

A. Aircraft Maintenance Configuration
(1) On the center pedestal, on ENG panel 115VU, make sure that a WARNING NOTICE(S) is in position to tell persons not to start the engine.
(2) On overhead maintenance panel 50VU, make sure that the ON legend of the ENG/FADEC GND PWR/1(2) pushbutton switch is off. Make sure that a WARNING NOTICE(S) is in position to tell persons not to energize the FADEC 1(2).
Subtask 72-60-31-010-051-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL (1) On the center pedestal, on ENG panel 115VU, make sure that a WARNING NOTICE(S) is in position to tell persons not to start the engine.

C. Remove all covers/caps/plugs from the openings.
4. ProcedureSubtask 72-60-31-420-050-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
A. Installation of the Seal Assembly
(1) Make sure a new mating ring is installed when installing a new seal assembly (Ref. AMM TASK 72-60-29-400-010).
(a) Make sure that the carbon seal in the seal assembly is free to move.
(c) Align the holes on the seal assembly (3) with the holes on the deoiler casing (2). Use the IAE1F10072 PUSHER-INSTALLATION, to fully install the seal assembly (3).
(d) Install the three washers (4) and the bolts (5) which attach the seal assembly (3) to the deoiler casing (2).
(e) TORQUE the bolts (5) to between 95 and 85 lbf.in (1.07 and 0.96 m.daN )
(Ref. AMM TASK 70-23-11-911-013).
(3) Install the gearbox breather outlet-duct (Ref. AMM TASK 72-61-49-400-010).
5. Close-up(1) Make sure a new mating ring is installed when installing a new seal assembly (Ref. AMM TASK 72-60-29-400-010).
NOTE: It is important to replace the mating ring when the seal assembly is replaced. Not replacing the mating ring when the seal assembly is replaced may result in an oil leak.
(2) Install the seal assembly: (a) Make sure that the carbon seal in the seal assembly is free to move.
NOTE: The carbon seal must have free axial movement during its full travel in the seal assembly.
(b) Install a new AIPC 72-60-31-80-040 PACKING (1) in to the groove of a new AIPC 72-60-31-80-025 SEAL ASSEMBLY (3) (Ref. AMM TASK 70-23-13-911-010). (c) Align the holes on the seal assembly (3) with the holes on the deoiler casing (2). Use the IAE1F10072 PUSHER-INSTALLATION, to fully install the seal assembly (3).
(d) Install the three washers (4) and the bolts (5) which attach the seal assembly (3) to the deoiler casing (2).
(e) TORQUE the bolts (5) to between 95 and 85 lbf.in (1.07 and 0.96 m.daN )
(Ref. AMM TASK 70-23-11-911-013). (3) Install the gearbox breather outlet-duct (Ref. AMM TASK 72-61-49-400-010).

A. Close Access
(1) Make sure that the work area is clean and clear of tools and other items.
(2) Close the fan cowls (Ref. AMM TASK 71-13-00-410-010):

(5) Remove the WARNING NOTICE(S).
