A. Safety Precautions
(1) On the center pedestal, on ENG panel 115VU:
(a) Put a WARNING NOTICE(S) in position to tell persons not to start the engine.
(2) Make sure that the engine 1(2) shutdown occurred not less than five minutes before you do this procedure.
(3) On overhead maintenance panel 50VU:
(a) Make sure that the ON legend of the ENG/FADEC GND PWR/1(2) pushbutton switch is off.
(b) Put a WARNING NOTICE(S) in position to tell persons not to energize FADEC 1(2).
Subtask 72-60-00-010-067-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL (1) On the center pedestal, on ENG panel 115VU:
(a) Put a WARNING NOTICE(S) in position to tell persons not to start the engine.

(1) Remove the external gearbox (Ref. AMM TASK 72-60-00-000-010).
4. Procedure(1) Remove the external gearbox (Ref. AMM TASK 72-60-00-000-010).
Subtask 72-60-00-420-086-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
A. Installation of the IAE5F10048 SHIP HANDLING ADAPTER on the External Gearbox
(1) Remove the two hexagonal nuts from the eyebolt.
(a) Remove the eyebolt from the storage hole for shipment.
(2) Install the eyebolt in the hole for gearbox lifting.
(a) Attach with the two hexagonal nuts.
(3) Attach a HOIST 500 KG (1100 LB) to the top of the eyebolt.
(a) Lift the IAE5F10048 SHIP HANDLING ADAPTER from the shipping container and move it on the gearbox.
(4) Lower the shipping adapter until the two links and the bracket of the adapter are in position on the gearbox casing.
(5) Put the bracket between the front lugs in position A.
(a) Put the link between the front lugs in position B and the other link between the rear lugs in position C.
(6) Align the hole of the bracket and the holes of the two links with the holes of the lugs.
(7) Install the two pins in the front lugs in positions A and B.
(8) Put the pin in the front gearbox lug.
(9) Push the pin fully through the lugs and the spherical bearing.
(10) Align the hole on the pin flange with the hole on the front gearbox lug.
(a) Install the bolt and TORQUE the bolt to between 95 and 85 lbf.in (1.07 and 0.96 m.daN )

(11) Do the steps of Para B.(8) thru Para B.(10) again for the other pin.
(12) Install the pin in the rear gearbox lugs in position C.
(13) Put the pin in the rear gearbox lug.
(14) Push the pin fully through the lugs and the spherical bearing of the link.
(15) Install the washer and the pin securing bolt in the hole on the boss adjacent to the lug.
(16) Make sure that the bolt engaged with the groove of the pin.
(a) TORQUE the bolt to between 95 and 85 lbf.in (1.07 and 0.96 m.daN )

Subtask 72-60-00-960-050-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL (1) Remove the two hexagonal nuts from the eyebolt.

(9) Push the pin fully through the lugs and the spherical bearing.
(10) Align the hole on the pin flange with the hole on the front gearbox lug.
(a) Install the bolt and TORQUE the bolt to between 95 and 85 lbf.in (1.07 and 0.96 m.daN )
. (11) Do the steps of Para B.(8) thru Para B.(10) again for the other pin.
(12) Install the pin in the rear gearbox lugs in position C.
(13) Put the pin in the rear gearbox lug.
(14) Push the pin fully through the lugs and the spherical bearing of the link.

(16) Make sure that the bolt engaged with the groove of the pin.
(a) TORQUE the bolt to between 95 and 85 lbf.in (1.07 and 0.96 m.daN )
. B. Move the External Gearbox to the IAE1F10154 BUILD STAND
(2) Remove the external gearbox from the IAE1F10021 STAND, STORAGE.
(a) Remove the two safety pins from the handling pins.
(b) Loosen the rotating block and release the two locking rods from the bosses on the angle gearbox.
(c) Lift the gearbox with a HOIST 500 KG (1100 LB) until the handling adapter is fully released from the handling pins.
(d) Remove the two handling pins from the external gearbox.
(3) Slowly lower the external gearbox on the IAE1F10154 BUILD STAND. Make sure that the gearbox is correctly installed on the support of the IAE1F10154 BUILD STAND.
(4) Safety the external gearbox with the six knobs.
(5) Remove the IAE5F10048 SHIP HANDLING ADAPTER from the external gearbox.
(6) Lift the IAE5F10048 SHIP HANDLING ADAPTER from the external gearbox.
(a) Put the IAE5F10048 SHIP HANDLING ADAPTER into the shipping container.
Subtask 72-60-00-020-080-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL WARNING:
SAFETY THE IAE 1F10154 BUILD STAND, WITH THE MAIN GEARBOX INSTALLED, TO THE WORK BENCH. IF YOU DO NOT OBEY THIS PRECAUTION, THE WEIGHT OF THE ANGLE GEARBOX CAN CAUSE THE BUILD STAND TO FALL. INJURY TO PERSONS AND DAMAGE TO EQUIPMENT CAN OCCUR.
(1) Install IAE1F10154 BUILD STAND on a work bench and secure so that it cannot tip. (2) Remove the external gearbox from the IAE1F10021 STAND, STORAGE.
(a) Remove the two safety pins from the handling pins.
(b) Loosen the rotating block and release the two locking rods from the bosses on the angle gearbox.
(c) Lift the gearbox with a HOIST 500 KG (1100 LB) until the handling adapter is fully released from the handling pins.
(d) Remove the two handling pins from the external gearbox.
(3) Slowly lower the external gearbox on the IAE1F10154 BUILD STAND. Make sure that the gearbox is correctly installed on the support of the IAE1F10154 BUILD STAND.
(4) Safety the external gearbox with the six knobs.
(5) Remove the IAE5F10048 SHIP HANDLING ADAPTER from the external gearbox.
(6) Lift the IAE5F10048 SHIP HANDLING ADAPTER from the external gearbox.
(a) Put the IAE5F10048 SHIP HANDLING ADAPTER into the shipping container.
C. Removal of the Oil Supply Tube from the External Gearbox
(1) With an applicable tool, hold the oil distributor to prevent movement.
(2) Disconnect the oil supply tube at the angle gearbox and at the oil distributor, and remove the oil supply tube.
(3) Remove and discard the packings (2) and (3) from the end of the oil scavenge tube and the adapter.
Subtask 72-60-00-020-081-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL (1) With an applicable tool, hold the oil distributor to prevent movement.
(2) Disconnect the oil supply tube at the angle gearbox and at the oil distributor, and remove the oil supply tube.
(3) Remove and discard the packings (2) and (3) from the end of the oil scavenge tube and the adapter.
D. Disconnection of the Oil Scavenge Tube from the Angle Gearbox Assembly
(1) Remove the two nuts and washers which attach the adapter to the angle gearbox.
(2) Disconnect the adapter from the angle gearbox and move it along the tube.
Subtask 72-60-00-020-082-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL (1) Remove the two nuts and washers which attach the adapter to the angle gearbox.
(2) Disconnect the adapter from the angle gearbox and move it along the tube.
E. Removal of the Angle Gearbox Assembly from the External Gearbox
(1) Remove the eight nuts and washers which attach the angle gearbox and the brackets to the angle gearbox support.
(a) Remove the brackets from the studs.
(b) Disconnect the angle gearbox from the angle gearbox support with two extraction bolts.
(c) Carefully move the angle gearbox rearward.
1 Disengage the bevel gearshaft from the layshaft extension gear.
(d) Remove the angle gearbox from the angle gearbox support.
1 Discard the packing (1).
Subtask 72-60-00-420-088-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL (1) Remove the eight nuts and washers which attach the angle gearbox and the brackets to the angle gearbox support.
(a) Remove the brackets from the studs.
(b) Disconnect the angle gearbox from the angle gearbox support with two extraction bolts.
(c) Carefully move the angle gearbox rearward.
1 Disengage the bevel gearshaft from the layshaft extension gear.
(d) Remove the angle gearbox from the angle gearbox support.
1 Discard the packing (1).
F. Install of the replacement Angle Gearbox Assembly on the External Gearbox
(2) Install the new AIPC 72-00-00-00-000 PACKING (3) on the oil scavenge tube.
(3) Install the new AIPC 72-00-00-00-000 PACKING (2) on the adapter on the oil scavenge tube.
(4) ApplyV10-077 lubricant (engine oil) on the flange of the angle gearbox support.
(5) Make sure that the retaining ring is installed in the groove on the splined end of the bevel gearshaft.
(6) Align the guide pin and the studs on the angle gearbox with the holes on the flange of the angle gearbox support.
(7) Remove the two nuts and washers which attach the crank cover to the front flange of the gearbox.
(a) Remove the crank cover and discard the packing (4).
(8) Install a WRENCH - STANDARD on the starter idler gear and manually turn the gear train to make the subsequent operation easier.
(9) Install the angle gearbox on the angle gearbox support.
(a) Engage the spline of the bevel gearshaft with the spline of the layshaft extension gear.
(10) Install the three brackets on the rear flange of the angle gearbox support and align with the studs.
(11) Install the two washers and the eight nuts which attach the brackets angle gearbox to the angle gearbox support.
(a) TORQUE the nuts to between 95 and 85 lbf.in (1.07 and 0.96 m.daN )
(Ref. AMM TASK 70-23-11-911-013).
(12) Attach the adapter to the angle gearbox with the two washers and nuts.
(a) TORQUE the nuts to between 95 and 85 lbf.in (1.07 and 0.96 m.daN )

(1) Install the new AIPC 72-00-00-00-000 PACKING (1) in the groove on the flange of the angle gearbox support. (2) Install the new AIPC 72-00-00-00-000 PACKING (3) on the oil scavenge tube.
(3) Install the new AIPC 72-00-00-00-000 PACKING (2) on the adapter on the oil scavenge tube.
(4) Apply

(1) Install a new AIPC 72-00-00-00-000 PACKING (4) on the flange of the crank cover.
(2) Lubricate the crank cover seat on the gearbox casing withV10-077 lubricant (engine oil) .
(3) Align the holes with the stud and install the crank cover on the gearbox module.
(4) Secure the crank cover with the two washers and nuts.
(a) TORQUE the nuts to between 95 and 85 lbf.in (1.07 and 0.96 m.daN )

Subtask 72-60-00-420-090-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL (1) Install a new AIPC 72-00-00-00-000 PACKING (4) on the flange of the crank cover.
(2) Lubricate the crank cover seat on the gearbox casing with

(1) Install the oil supply tube on the gearbox module between the distributor and the angle gearbox.
(a) TORQUE the angle gearbox end connector to between 350 and 320 lbf.in (3.96 and 3.62 m.daN )
(Ref. AMM TASK 70-23-11-911-013).
1 Hold the distributor to prevent movement while you torque the connector.
(b) Installation of the lockwire
Subtask 72-60-00-420-091-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL (1) Install the oil supply tube on the gearbox module between the distributor and the angle gearbox.
(a) TORQUE the angle gearbox end connector to between 350 and 320 lbf.in (3.96 and 3.62 m.daN )
(Ref. AMM TASK 70-23-11-911-013). 1 Hold the distributor to prevent movement while you torque the connector.
(b) Installation of the lockwire
WARNING:
USE PROTECTIVE GOGGLES AND GLOVES WHEN YOU REMOVE OR INSTALL LOCKWIRE. EACH TIME YOU CUT LOCKWIRE, REMOVE AND DISCARD IT IMMEDIATELY. LOOSE LOCKWIRE CAN CUT YOU OR MAKE YOU BLIND, AND/OR CAN CAUSE DAMAGE.
1 Safety both ends of the tube with lockwire (Material No.V02-126) . I. Installation of the IAE5F10048 SHIP HANDLING ADAPTER on the External Gearbox
(1) Remove the two hexagonal nuts from the eyebolt.
(a) Remove the eyebolt from the storage hole for shipment.
(2) Install the eyebolt in the hole for gearbox lifting.
(a) Attach with the two hexagonal nuts.
(3) Attach a HOIST 500 KG (1100 LB) to the top of the eyebolt.
(a) Lift the IAE5F10048 SHIP HANDLING ADAPTER from the shipping container and move it on the gearbox.
(4) Lower the shipping adapter until the two links and the bracket of the adapter are in position on the gearbox casing.
(5) Put the bracket between the front lugs in position A.
(a) Put the link between the front lugs in position B and the other link between the rear lugs in position C.
(6) Align the hole of the bracket and the holes of the two links with the holes of the lugs.
(a) Install the two pins on the front lugs in positions A and B.
(7) Put the pin in the front gearbox lug.
(a) Push the pin fully through the lugs and the spherical bearing.
(8) Align the hole on the pin flange with the hole on the front gearbox lug.
(a) Install the bolt and TORQUE the bolt to between 95 and 85 lbf.in (1.07 and 0.96 m.daN )

(9) Do the steps of Para. K.(7). thru Para. K.(8). again for the other pin.
(10) Install the pin in the rear gearbox lugs in position C.
(11) Put the pin in the rear gearbox lug.
(12) Push the pin fully through the lugs and the spherical bearing of the link.
(13) Install the washer and the pin securing bolt in the hole on the boss adjacent to the lug.
(14) Make sure that the bolt engaged with the groove of the pin.
(a) TORQUE the bolt to between 95 and 85 lbf.in (1.07 and 0.96 m.daN )

(10) Install the pin in the rear gearbox lugs in position C.
(11) Put the pin in the rear gearbox lug.
(12) Push the pin fully through the lugs and the spherical bearing of the link.
(13) Install the washer and the pin securing bolt in the hole on the boss adjacent to the lug.
(14) Make sure that the bolt engaged with the groove of the pin.
(a) TORQUE the bolt to between 95 and 85 lbf.in (1.07 and 0.96 m.daN )
(Ref. AMM TASK 70-23-11-911-013). J. Installation of the External Gearbox on the IAE1F10021 STAND, STORAGE
(1) Release the six knobs of IAE1F10154 BUILD STAND and lift the external gearbox from the supports of the IAE1F10154 BUILD STAND.
(2) Install the IAE1F10011 PIN, HANDLING on the ground handling bosses on the bottom of the gearbox.
(3) Slowly lower the external gearbox on the IAE1F10021 STAND, STORAGE.
(4) Align the two handling pins with the holes of the IAE1F10023 ADAPTER, HANDLING on the IAE1F10021 STAND, STORAGE.
(a) Align the angle gearbox with the angle gearbox support of the IAE1F10023 ADAPTER, HANDLING.
(5) Continue to lower the external gearbox until the two handling fixtures are fully in the holes of the IAE1F10023 ADAPTER, HANDLING.
(6) Make sure that the angle gearbox is correctly installed on the angle gearbox support between the two locking rods.
(7) Install the two safety pins in the handling fixtures.
(8) Put the two locking rods in position on the bosses of the angle gearbox.
(a) Tighten the rotating blocks.
(9) Remove the IAE5F10048 SHIP HANDLING ADAPTER from the external gearbox.
(10) Lift the IAE5F10048 SHIP HANDLING ADAPTER from the external gearbox.
(11) Put the IAE5F10048 SHIP HANDLING ADAPTER into the shipping container.
5. Close-up(1) Release the six knobs of IAE1F10154 BUILD STAND and lift the external gearbox from the supports of the IAE1F10154 BUILD STAND.
(2) Install the IAE1F10011 PIN, HANDLING on the ground handling bosses on the bottom of the gearbox.
(3) Slowly lower the external gearbox on the IAE1F10021 STAND, STORAGE.
(4) Align the two handling pins with the holes of the IAE1F10023 ADAPTER, HANDLING on the IAE1F10021 STAND, STORAGE.
(a) Align the angle gearbox with the angle gearbox support of the IAE1F10023 ADAPTER, HANDLING.
(5) Continue to lower the external gearbox until the two handling fixtures are fully in the holes of the IAE1F10023 ADAPTER, HANDLING.
(6) Make sure that the angle gearbox is correctly installed on the angle gearbox support between the two locking rods.
(7) Install the two safety pins in the handling fixtures.
(8) Put the two locking rods in position on the bosses of the angle gearbox.
(a) Tighten the rotating blocks.
(9) Remove the IAE5F10048 SHIP HANDLING ADAPTER from the external gearbox.
(10) Lift the IAE5F10048 SHIP HANDLING ADAPTER from the external gearbox.
(11) Put the IAE5F10048 SHIP HANDLING ADAPTER into the shipping container.
