A. Safety Precautions
   (1) On the center pedestal, on ENG panel 115VU:
     (a) Make sure that the ENG/MODE selector switch is in the NORM position.
     (b) Make sure that the ENG/MASTER 1(2) control switch was in the OFF position not less than five minutes before you do this procedure.
     (c) Put a WARNING NOTICE(S) in position to tell persons not to operate:
  • The ENG/MODE selector switch
  • The ENG/MASTER 1(2) control switch.
   (2) On the ENG section of maintenance panel 50VU:
     (a) Make sure that the ON legend of the FADEC GND PWR/1(2) pushbutton switch is off.
     (b) Put a WARNING NOTICE(S) in position to tell persons not to energize FADEC 1(2).
4. Procedure
Subtask 72-23-03-350-050-A
A. Rebond of the Elastomer Acoustic Shroud Rear Seal
   (1) Remove the unbonded or worn elastomer seal (1).
WARNING: USE PROTECTIVE GLOVES TO PREVENT INJURY FROM SHARP EDGES AND ROUGH SURFACES.
CAUTION: WHEN YOU REMOVE THE SILICONE SEAL, BE CAREFUL NOT TO TOUCH THE CARBON FIBER PLIES. IF YOU DO, DAMAGE TO THE PART WILL OCCUR.
     (a) Remove the unbonded or worn elastomer seal (1) and remaining silicone seal with a SCALPEL.
   (2) Bond the new elastomer seal (1).
   (3) Degrease the part with a Textile-Lint free Cotton - (Material No.14SBA1) moist in isopropyl alcohol (Material No.CP1041) .
   (4) Make both surfaces to be bonded rough with an abrasive cloth (Material No.CP2772) in criss-cross pattern.
   (5) Blowing of the surfaces
WARNING: WHEN YOU USE COMPRESSED AIR:
  • USE THE CORRECT PROTECTION (FACE SHIELD OR GOGGLES)
  • DO NOT POINT THE AIRFLOW AT YOURSELF OR OTHER PERSONS
  • DO NOT LET THE PRESSURE BE MORE THAN 30 PSIG (200 KPA).
LOOSE PARTICLES AND/OR HIGH PRESSURE AIR CAN CAUSE INJURY.
     (a) Blow the surfaces to bond with a AIR SOURCE FILTERED, DRY and de-oiled.
   (6) Application of the primer
CAUTION: MAKE SURE THAT YOU APPLY PRIMER 1200 OS IN THE GOOD CONFIGURATION 1 OR 2. IF YOU DO NOT, DAMAGE TO THE EQUIPMENT CAN OCCUR.
     (a) Apply primer 1200 (Material No.CP2244) on the carbon fiber ply and on the seal.
     (b) Let the temperature to stabilize at ambient.
     (c) Apply primer 1200 (Material No.CP2244) on both surfaces to bond with a GUN - SPRAY.
NOTE: You must respect the following conditions:
  • Temperature above 59 deg.F (15.00 deg.C)
  • Humidity between 40 percent and 70 percent.
     (d) Let primer 1200 (Material No.CP2244) dry for 30 minutes.
   (7) Application of the RTV3145 on the primer
CAUTION: MAKE SURE THAT YOU APPLY RTV3145 IN THE GOOD CONFIGURATION 1 OR 2. IF YOU DO NOT, DAMAGE TO THE EQUIPMENT CAN OCCUR.
     (a) Apply adhesive (Material No.CP2344) on the primer 1200 (Material No.CP2244) of the acoustic shroud.
     (b) Let the temperature to stabilize at ambient.
     (c) Apply adhesive (Material No.CP2344) on the acoustic shroud.
NOTE: The thickness of the RTV must be approximately 0.020 in. (0.51 mm).
NOTE: You must respect the following conditions:
  • Temperature above 59 deg.F (15.00 deg.C),
  • Humidity between 40 percent and 70 percent.
   (8) Bonding of the new EIPC 72-00-01-54-041 ELASTOMER SEAL (1).
CAUTION: MAKE SURE THAT YOU BOND THE SEAL IN THE GOOD CONFIGURATION 1 OR 2. IF YOU DO NOT, DAMAGE TO THE EQUIPMENT CAN OCCUR.
     (a) Bond the new elastomer seal (1) on the adhesive (Material No.
CP2344) and maintain the elastomer seal with a mechanical way during the polymerization respecting the dimensional limits and dimensions below. See the sheet 2 of the figure.
       1 DIM A
Minimum Finish Dimension: 0.197 in. (5.00 mm)
Maximum Finish Dimension: 0.205 in. (5.21 mm)
       2 DIM B
Minimum Finish Dimension: 0.55 in. (13.97 mm)
Maximum Finish Dimension: 0.63 in. (16.00 mm)
NOTE: You must respect the following conditions:
  • Temperature above 59 deg.F (15.00 deg.C)
  • Humidity between 40 percent and 70 percent.
   (9) Let polymerize during 24 hours at ambient temperature.
NOTE: You must respect the following conditions:
  • Temperature above 59 deg.F (15.00 deg.C)
  • Humidity between 40 percent and 70 percent.
   (10) Make sure that the new elastomer seal (1) is bonded.
     (a) The cumulated gaps between each seal sector must not be more than 0.20 in. (5.08 mm).
     (b) The gaps between each seal sector must not be more than 0.04 in. (1.02 mm).
