Installation of the Speed Sensor Guide Tube
WARNING:
BE CAREFUL WHEN YOU DO WORK ON THE ENGINE PARTS AFTER THE ENGINE SHUTDOWN. USE APPLICABLE THERMAL GLOVES. THE ENGINE PARTS CAN STAY HOT FOR ONE HOUR AFTER SHUTDOWN AND CAN BURN YOU.

A. Aircraft Maintenance Configuration
(1) On the center pedestal, on the ENG panel 115VU, make sure that a WARNING NOTICE(S) is in position to tell persons not to start the engine.
(2) On the overhead maintenance panel 50VU, make sure that the ON legend of the ENG/FADEC GND PWR/1(2) is off. Make sure that a WARNING NOTICE(S) is in position to tell persons not to energize the FADEC 1(2).
(3) Make sure that the ACCESS PLATFORM 1M(3 FT) is in position.

B. Get Access

WARNING:
USE PERSONAL PROTECTION EQUIPMENT. USE THE ENGINE OIL IN A WELL-VENTILATED AREA. ENGINE OIL IS TOXIC.
Subtask 72-23-00-420-077-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL A. Installation of the Speed Sensor Guide Tube in the Fan Frame Strut No. 6.
(1) Lightly lubricate the new AIPC 72-23-00-15-070 PACKING (40) and the new AIPC 72-23-00-15-060 PACKING (50) with vaseline (Material No.CP5070) .
(2) Remove the PLUG - BLANKING from the strut No. 6 of the fan frame (60).
(3) Install the new O-ring (40) in the lower groove of the speed sensor guide tube (30).
(5) Install the speed sensor guide tube (30) in the strut No. 6 of the fan frame (60).
(6) Install the sleeve (20) on the end of the speed sensor guide tube (30) which comes out of the fan frame (60).
(8) Attach the sleeve (20) with the bolts (10).
(9) TORQUE the bolts (10) to between 157.5 and 142.5 lbf.in (1.78 and 1.61 m.daN )
.
(10) Install the N1 speed sensor (Ref. AMM TASK 77-11-10-400-002).
(11) Do a minimum idle check (Ref. AMM TASK 71-00-00-710-006).
5. Close-up(1) Lightly lubricate the new AIPC 72-23-00-15-070 PACKING (40) and the new AIPC 72-23-00-15-060 PACKING (50) with vaseline (Material No.CP5070) .
(2) Remove the PLUG - BLANKING from the strut No. 6 of the fan frame (60).
(3) Install the new O-ring (40) in the lower groove of the speed sensor guide tube (30).
NOTE: The new O-ring (40) and the new O-ring (50) are installed on the speed sensor guide tube (30) by the upper end of the tube.
(4) Install the new O-ring (50) in the upper groove of the speed sensor guide tube (30).(5) Install the speed sensor guide tube (30) in the strut No. 6 of the fan frame (60).
(6) Install the sleeve (20) on the end of the speed sensor guide tube (30) which comes out of the fan frame (60).
NOTE: The angular alignment of the sleeve (20) is given by the bolt holes on the sleeve.
(7) Lightly lubricate the threads of the bolts (10) with engine oil (Material No.CP2442) . (8) Attach the sleeve (20) with the bolts (10).
(9) TORQUE the bolts (10) to between 157.5 and 142.5 lbf.in (1.78 and 1.61 m.daN )
. (10) Install the N1 speed sensor (Ref. AMM TASK 77-11-10-400-002).
(11) Do a minimum idle check (Ref. AMM TASK 71-00-00-710-006).

A. Close Access
(1) Make sure that the work area is clean and clear of tools and other items.
(2) Close the fan cowl doors: (Ref. AMM TASK 71-13-00-410-040)

(3) Remove the WARNING NOTICE(S).
(4) Remove the access platform(s).
