1. Reason for the Job
This procedure gives instructions to repair the fan inlet case by reconditioning local damaged areas of the abradable liner. Procedure RD 840-459-P1 or higher gives instructions for the local repair for defects with a large depth on the silicone abradable liner on the fan inlet case.

A. Local Reconditioning of the Abradable Silicone Liner
(1) Procedure RD 840-459-P1 or portions of this repair require a Technical License Agreement and a Repair Source Substantiation prior to use. It is necessary that the repair source be approved by the Appropriate Regulatory Agency, to obtain the Technical License Agreement from GE Aviation, and to receive the Repair Source Substantiation before performing this repair.
