Visual Inspection of the Booster Flow Splitter
WARNING:
BE CAREFUL WHEN YOU DO WORK ON THE ENGINE PARTS AFTER THE ENGINE SHUTDOWN. USE APPLICABLE THERMAL GLOVES. THE ENGINE PARTS CAN STAY HOT FOR ONE HOUR AFTER SHUTDOWN AND CAN BURN YOU.

A. Safety Precautions
(1) On the center pedestal, on ENG panel 115VU:
(a) Make sure that the ENG/MODE selector switch is in the NORM position.
(b) Make sure that the ENG/MASTER 1(2) control switch was in the OFF position not less than five minutes before you do this procedure.
(c) Put WARNING NOTICE(S) in position to tell persons not to operate:
(a) Make sure that the ON legend of the FADEC GND PWR/1(2) pushbutton switch is off.
(b) Put a WARNING NOTICE(S) in position to tell persons not to energize FADEC 1(2).
(3) Put a MAT - PROTECTIVE at the Fan Cowl Door.
4. Procedure(1) On the center pedestal, on ENG panel 115VU:
(a) Make sure that the ENG/MODE selector switch is in the NORM position.
(b) Make sure that the ENG/MASTER 1(2) control switch was in the OFF position not less than five minutes before you do this procedure.
(c) Put WARNING NOTICE(S) in position to tell persons not to operate:
- The ENG/MODE selector switch, and
- The ENG/MASTER 1(2) control switch.

(b) Put a WARNING NOTICE(S) in position to tell persons not to energize FADEC 1(2).
(3) Put a MAT - PROTECTIVE at the Fan Cowl Door.

(3) Nicks in Area H of the booster flow splitter (1):
(a) Maximum serviceable limit: Any amount, if not more than 0.0079 in. (0.20 mm) in depth.
(4) Dents in Area H of the booster flow splitter (1):
(a) Maximum serviceable limit: Any amount, if not more than 0.0079 in. (0.20 mm) in depth.
(5) Scratches in Area H of the booster flow splitter (1):
(a) Maximum serviceable limit: Any amount, if not more than 0.0039 in. (0.10 mm) in depth.

(c) Repair method: blend repair of the flow splitter (Ref. AMM TASK 72-21-00-300-802).
(8) Scratches in Area G of the booster flow splitter (1):
(a) Maximum serviceable limit: Any amount, if not more than 0.0039 in. (0.10 mm) in depth.
(b) Maximum repairable limit: Any amount if under repair limits.
(c) Repair method: blend repair of the flow splitter (Ref. AMM TASK 72-21-00-300-802).
(9) Pitting on the booster flow splitter (1):
(a) Maximum serviceable limit: Not serviceable.
(10) Deposit in gap (Dimension A) between the inlet guide vane and the booster flow splitter (1):
(a) Maximum serviceable limit:
1 The deposits are not more than 0.512 in. (13.00 mm) long.
2 The distance between two deposits is more than 7.48 in. (189.99 mm).
3 A Maximum of five percent of the circumference can be affected.
Subtask 72-21-02-220-051-A NOTE: This visual check is to examine the booster flow splitter (1) through the fan blades. If a full inspection is necessary, remove the flow splitter (1) (Ref. AMM TASK 72-21-02-000-802).
(1) Cracks and tears on the booster flow splitter (1): (a) Maximum serviceable limit: Not serviceable.
(2) Erosion on the booster flow splitter (1):
(a) Maximum serviceable limit: Any amount, if not more than 0.0039 in. (0.10 mm) in depth.
(3) Nicks in Area H of the booster flow splitter (1):
(a) Maximum serviceable limit: Any amount, if not more than 0.0079 in. (0.20 mm) in depth.

B. Dimensional Inspection of the Booster Flow Splitter
(1) Dimension A of the booster flow splitter (1):
(a) Minimum serviceable limit: 0.006 in. (0.15 mm).
(b) Maximum serviceable limit: 0.03 in. (0.76 mm).
5. Close-up(1) Dimension A of the booster flow splitter (1):
(a) Minimum serviceable limit: 0.006 in. (0.15 mm).
(b) Maximum serviceable limit: 0.03 in. (0.76 mm).

A. Put the aircraft back to its initial configuration.
(1) Make sure that the work area is clean and clear of tools and other items.
(2) Remove the MAT - PROTECTIVE from the fan cowl door.
(3) Remove the WARNING NOTICE(S).
