Over Serviceable Limit Extension
WARNING:
BE CAREFUL WHEN YOU DO WORK ON THE ENGINE PARTS AFTER THE ENGINE SHUTDOWN. USE APPLICABLE THERMAL GLOVES. THE ENGINE PARTS CAN STAY HOT FOR ONE HOUR AFTER SHUTDOWN AND CAN BURN YOU.

A. General
(1) When you find internal engine damage or wear that is more than the serviceable limits, an over serviceable limit extension may be applicable.
(2) If applicable to the type and quantity of engine damage or wear that you find, an over serviceable limit extension will allow for a limited amount of engine operation as a one-time use extension or reduced interval repeat inspection, before you must correct the damage.
(3) The purpose of an over serviceable limit extension is to allow the airplane to be flown with lower interval repeat inspections to a repair facility where you can correct the engine damage.

B. Over serviceable limit extension
(1) You must follow these steps when you use an over serviceable limit extension.
(a) You must complete the necessary inspection or repairs before the end of an over serviceable limit extension.
(b) You must use an over serviceable limit extension as designated in the related task.
(c) When an over serviceable limit extension is specified in flight cycles and flight hours, the parameter that occurs first is the limit.
(d) An over serviceable limit extension is given for specific engine components and areas.
1 You must use the specific over serviceable limit extension for the component or area where you find the damage or wear.
2 One time over serviceable limit extensions can only be used for one extension period to permit scheduling of the engine for repair or removal.
3 Repeat, decreased interval limits are applicable if the conditions stay within the stated dimensional limits.
(e) The engine can continue-in-service within the limits until the interval expires, and an additional inspection is necessary to re-inspect.
