Removal of the Hydro Mechanical Unit (HMU) Drain Tube
WARNING:
BE CAREFUL WHEN YOU DO WORK ON THE ENGINE PARTS AFTER THE ENGINE SHUTDOWN. USE APPLICABLE THERMAL GLOVES. THE ENGINE PARTS CAN STAY HOT FOR ONE HOUR AFTER SHUTDOWN AND CAN BURN YOU.

A. Safety Precautions
(1) On the center pedestal, on the ENG panel 115VU:
(a) Put a WARNING NOTICE(S) to tell persons not to start the engine.
(2) Make sure that the engine 1(2) shutdown occurred not less than 5 minutes before you do this procedure.
(3) On the overhead maintenance panel 50VU:
(a) Make sure that the ON legend of the ENG/FADEC GND PWR/1(2) pushbutton switch is off.
(b) Put a WARNING NOTICE(S) to tell persons not to energize the FADEC 1(2).

(a) Put a WARNING NOTICE(S) to tell persons not to start the engine.

Subtask 71-73-49-020-058-B ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
A. Removal of the Hydro Mechanical Unit (HMU) Drain Tube
(1) Put a CONTAINER 1 L (1/4 USGAL) below the drain mast to catch any fluid remaining in the tube.
(2) Disconnect the HMU drain tube (5) from the heat exchanger drain tube and let the fluid drain into the container.
(3) Remove the bolt (25), the washers (30) and (35), the nut (40) and the clamp (45) that attach the HMU drain tube (5) to CFMI support tube bracket.
(4) Remove the bolt (15), the nut (20) and the clamp (10) that attach the drain tube (5) to the bracket.
(5) Disconnect the drain tube (5) from the hydro mechanical unit.
(6) Remove the HMU drain tube (5) from the engine.
(7) Put COVER - PROTECTION on the HMU and the drain tubes.
(8) Remove the container from below the drain mast.
(1) Put a CONTAINER 1 L (1/4 USGAL) below the drain mast to catch any fluid remaining in the tube.
(2) Disconnect the HMU drain tube (5) from the heat exchanger drain tube and let the fluid drain into the container.
(3) Remove the bolt (25), the washers (30) and (35), the nut (40) and the clamp (45) that attach the HMU drain tube (5) to CFMI support tube bracket.
(4) Remove the bolt (15), the nut (20) and the clamp (10) that attach the drain tube (5) to the bracket.
(5) Disconnect the drain tube (5) from the hydro mechanical unit.
(6) Remove the HMU drain tube (5) from the engine.
(7) Put COVER - PROTECTION on the HMU and the drain tubes.
(8) Remove the container from below the drain mast.
