1. Reason for the Job
This TASK is for V2500-A5 Engines.
NOTE: If the fan cowl strake configuration to be installed is different from the configuration removed, refer to Service Bulletin (SB): V2500-NAC-71-0258.

3. Job Set-up
Subtask 71-13-19-860-051-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
A. Aircraft Maintenance Configuration
   (1) On the center pedestal, on the ENG panel 115VU, make sure that a WARNING NOTICE(S) is in position to tell persons not to start the engine.
   (2) On the overhead maintenance panel 50VU, make sure that the ON legend of the ENG/FADEC GND PWR/1(2) pushbutton switch is off. Make sure that a WARNING NOTICE(S) is in position to tell persons not to energize the FADEC 1(2).
   (3) Make sure that the ACCESS PLATFORM 2M (6 FT) - ADJUSTABLE is in position.

   (1) Make sure that the fan cowl doors are open: (Ref. AMM TASK 71-13-00-010-010)

4. Procedure

A. Remove the jointing compound
F Fan Cowl Strakes ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
WARNING: BE CAREFUL WHEN YOU USE CONSUMABLE MATERIALS. OBEY THE MATERIAL MANUFACTURER'S INSTRUCTIONS AND YOUR LOCAL REGULATIONS.
   (1) Clean the used jointing compound from the mating faces of the strake and the fan cowl door. Use a clean Textile-Lint free Cotton - (Material No.14SBA1) made moist with V01-076Methyl Ethyl Ketone, Technical grade.
   (2) Use a clean Textile-Lint free Cotton - (Material No.14SBA1) to dry the mating faces of the strake and the fan cowl door.

B. Visually examine the strake, the area around the bolt holes in the strake and the fan cowl door for damage.
Subtask 71-13-19-420-051-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
CAUTION: IF THE FAN COWL STRAKE CANNOT BE INSTALLED FOR ANY REASON, REFER TO THE A319, A320, A321 MEL/CDL CHAPTER 51 FOR THE FLIGHT OPERATION RESTRICTIONS WHICH ARE APPLICABLE. MAINTENANCE CONTROL MUST BE NOTIFIED PRIOR TO FURTHER FLIGHT.
C. Install the fan cowl left and right strakes
NOTE: If the fan cowl that was removed had a strake installed, the replacement fan cowl must also have the same strake configuration installed. If the fan cowl strake configuration to be installed is different from the configuration removed, use SB V2500-NAC-71-0258 to install the strakes in the new configuration.

PRE SB 70-0795

   (1) If necessary, remove the sealing compound from the strake fastener holes.

POST SB 70-0795

   (2) If necessary, remove the filler plugs from the strake fastener holes.

   (3) Apply a thin bead of jointing compound (Material No.V04-005) on the mating surfaces of the left strake (1) and the fan cowl door.
NOTE: The jointing compound is not required if the left strake is fitted on the fan cowl door before painting.
   (4) Install the left strake (1) on the fan cowl door while the jointing compound is still wet.
NOTE: The strake will have the "NO STEP" caution note on the top surface when correctly installed.
   (5) Hold the left strake (1) in position, install the AIPC 71-13-19-80-010 BOLT (2) and the AIPC 71-13-19-80-020 NUT (3).
   (6) TORQUE the nuts (2) to between 33 and 27 lbf.in (0.37 and 0.31 m.daN )
T (Ref. AMM TASK 70-23-11-911-013).
   (7) Wipe off the unwanted jointing compound with a clean Textile-Lint free Cotton - (Material No.14SBA1) .
   (8) Apply a fillet of sealant (Material No.V08-033) around the interface between the strake and the fan cowl.

D. Fan Cowl Door Part Number Change
NOTE: If the fan cowl strake configuration installed is different from the configuration removed, the fan cowl door part number must be changed. Refer to SB V2500-NAC-71-0258.
   (1) If necessary, amend the part number on the fan cowl door, refer to SB V2500-NAC-71-0258.
5. Close-up

A. Close Access
   (1) Make sure that the work area is clean and clear of tools and other items.
   (2) Close the fan cowls (Ref. AMM TASK 71-13-00-410-010)
   (3) FOR [1000EM1] (ENGINE-1)

   (4) FOR [1000EM2] (ENGINE-2)
447AL 448AR.
   (5) Remove the access platform(s).
   (6) Remove the WARNING NOTICE(S).
