1. Reason for the Job
Self-explanatory
NOTE: SBN71-0331 introduces a lockable latch in the forward position (No. 1) that must be opened and closed and locked with a key and flag assembly. The key and flag assembly are stowed in the cockpit and must not be used if there is damage to the key or flag.

3. Job Set-up
Subtask 71-13-13-941-070-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
A. Safety Precautions
   (1) On the center pedestal, on ENG panel 115VU:
     (a) Put a WARNING NOTICE(S) in position to tell persons not to start the engine.
   (2) Make sure that the engine 1(2) shutdown occurred not less than five minutes before you do this procedure.
   (3) On the overhead maintenance panel 50VU:
     (a) Make sure that the ON legend of the ENG/FADEC GND PWR/1(2) pushbutton switch is off.
     (b) Put a WARNING NOTICE(S) in position to tell persons not to energize FADEC 1(2).
4. Procedure
Subtask 71-13-13-660-050-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
A. De-Icing of the Fan-Cowl No. 1 Lockable Latch
   (1) Remove the ice from the fan-cowl lockable latch.
CAUTION: DO NOT LET THE LOCKABLE LATCH TEMPERATURE INCREASE TO MORE THAN 55 DEG.C (131 DEG.F). IF THE TEMPERATURE OF THE LATCH IS MORE THAN THIS LIMIT, DAMAGE CAN OCCUR.
     (a) Use a GUN - HOT AIR and blow warm air along the length of the latch handle and into the lock mechanism until you can insert the key.
5. Close-up
Subtask 71-13-13-410-066-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
A. Close Access
   (1) Make sure that the work area is clean and clear of tools and other items.
   (2) Make sure that the fan cowls are closed correctly (Ref. AMM TASK 71-13-00-410-010).
   (3) Remove the WARNING NOTICE(S).
