1. Reason for the JobDo this procedure if the key cannot be engaged or turned correctly in the lock.
NOTE: SBN71-0331 (equivalent to Airbus service bulletin SB 71-1069) introduces a lockable latch in the forward position (latch number 1) that must be opened and closed and locked with a key and flag assembly. The key and flag assembly are stowed in the cockpit and must not be used if there is damage to the key or flag.

A. Safety Precautions
(1) On the center pedestal, on ENG panel 115VU:
(a) Put a WARNING NOTICE(S) in position to tell persons not to start the engine.
(2) Make sure that the engine 1(2) shutdown occurred not less than five minutes before you do this procedure.
(3) On the overhead maintenance panel 50VU:
(a) Make sure that the ON legend of the ENG/FADEC GND PWR/1(2) pushbutton switch is off.
(b) Put a WARNING NOTICE(S) in position to tell persons not to energize FADEC 1(2).
4. Procedure(1) On the center pedestal, on ENG panel 115VU:
(a) Put a WARNING NOTICE(S) in position to tell persons not to start the engine.
(2) Make sure that the engine 1(2) shutdown occurred not less than five minutes before you do this procedure.
(3) On the overhead maintenance panel 50VU:
(a) Make sure that the ON legend of the ENG/FADEC GND PWR/1(2) pushbutton switch is off.
(b) Put a WARNING NOTICE(S) in position to tell persons not to energize FADEC 1(2).

A. Clean the Fan-Cowl No. 1 Lockable Latch (SBN71-0331)
(1) Remove solid particles or unwanted materials from the lock.
(b) Use a BRUSH - NYLON on the key opening to loosen debris.
(c) Blow compressed air into the key opening. Keep a part of the opening uncovered to let the debris out.
(d) Apply a high volume of pressurized water into the key opening. Keep a part of the opening uncovered to let the debris out.
(e) Put cotton wool swab (Material No.V02-174) soaked with theV01-124 Isopropyl Alcohol, Technical grade or Cleaning solvent (Material No.V01-338) through the key opening to help release unwanted debris.
(f) Spray a large quantity of an applicable lubricant (Material No.V10-108) through the key opening into the lock and around mechanism.
(g) Spray a large quantity of an applicable wet lubricant (Material No.V10-067) through the key opening into the lock and around the mechanism.
5. Close-up(1) Remove solid particles or unwanted materials from the lock.
NOTE: These steps can be used in any sequence and repeated until the key and lock operates correctly.
(a) Use a MALLET - FIBER or other applicable percussion tool and apply moderate taps to the key opening area of the latch to help release unwanted debris. (b) Use a BRUSH - NYLON on the key opening to loosen debris.
(c) Blow compressed air into the key opening. Keep a part of the opening uncovered to let the debris out.
(d) Apply a high volume of pressurized water into the key opening. Keep a part of the opening uncovered to let the debris out.
(e) Put cotton wool swab (Material No.V02-174) soaked with the
