Removal of the Fan-Cowl Door Keeper


WARNING: BE CAREFUL WHEN YOU DO WORK ON THE ENGINE PARTS AFTER THE ENGINE SHUTDOWN. USE APPLICABLE THERMAL GLOVES. THE ENGINE PARTS CAN STAY HOT FOR ONE HOUR AFTER SHUTDOWN AND CAN BURN YOU.
1. Reason for the Job
NOTE: SBN71-0331 (equivalent to Airbus service bulletin SB 71-1069) introduces a lockable latch in the forward position (latch No. 1) that must be opened and closed and locked with a key and flag assembly. The key and flag assembly are stowed in the cockpit and must not be used if there is damage to the key or flag.

A. Safety Precautions
   (1) On the center pedestal, on ENG panel 115VU:
     (a) Put a WARNING NOTICE(S) in position to tell persons not to start the engine.
   (2) Make sure that the engine 1(2) shutdown occurred not less than five minutes before you do this procedure.
   (3) On the overhead maintenance panel 50VU:
     (a) Make sure that the ON legend of the ENG/FADEC GND PWR/1(2) pushbutton switch is off.
     (b) Put a WARNING NOTICE(S) in position to tell persons not to energize FADEC 1(2).

Subtask 71-13-13-020-061-B ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
A. Removal of the Fan-Cowl Door Keepers from the Keeper Housing
   (1) Remove the nuts (1), the washers (2), and the bolts (3) that attach the keeper number 1 (6) to the keeper housing (5).
   (2) Remove the nuts (1), the washers (2), and the bolts (3) that attach the keepers number 2, 3 or 4 (4) to the keeper housings (5).
