Removal of the Left Fan Cowl 437AL(447AL).

DO NOT OPEN THE FAN COWL(S) WHEN THE WIND SPEED IS 60 MPH (96 KM/H) OR MORE. INJURY AND/OR DAMAGE TO THE ENGINE CAN OCCUR IF THE WIND MOVES THE FAN COWL(S).

BE CAREFUL IF YOU OPEN THE FAN COWL(S) WHEN THE WIND SPEED IS 30MPH (48KM/H) OR MORE. INJURY AND/OR DAMAGE TO THE ENGINE CAN OCCUR IF THE WIND MOVES THE FAN COWL(S).
WARNING:
BE CAREFUL DURING THE REMOVAL OR INSTALLATION OF THE LEFT FAN COWL. IT WEIGHS 93 LB (42 KG). IF IT FALLS, IT CAN CAUSE INJURY TO PERSONS AND/OR DAMAGE TO EQUIPMENT.

THIS PART IS A REMOVABLE STRUCTURAL COMPONENT (RSC), WHICH CAN BE MOVED BETWEEN AIRCRAFT. THUS IT CAN HAVE DIFFERENT OPERATION CONDITIONS AND A DIFFERENT LIFE RECORD (FLIGHT HOURS/FLIGHT CYCLES/CALENDAR) FROM THE AIRCRAFT IT IS INSTALLED ON OR REMOVED FROM. THE OPERATOR IS RESPONSIBLE FOR THE SPECIFIC TRACKING AND CONTINUED AIRWORTHINESS OF REMOVABLE STRUCTURAL COMPONENTS. INCORRECT MAINTENANCE OF THESE COMPONENTS CAN CAUSE A RISK FOR THE FLIGHT SAFETY.
1. Reason for the JobNOTE: SBN71-0331 (equivalent to Airbus service bulletin SB 71-1069) introduces a lockable latch in the forward position (latch No. 1) that must be opened and closed and locked with a key and flag assembly. The key and flag assembly are stowed in the cockpit and must not be used if there is damage to the key or flag.

A. Safety Precautions
(1) On the center pedestal, on the ENG panel 115VU:
(a) Put a WARNING NOTICE(S) to tell persons not to start the engine.
(2) Make sure that the engine 1(2) shutdown occurred not less than 5 minutes before you do this procedure.
(3) On the overhead maintenance panel 50VU:
(a) Make sure that the ON legend of the ENG/FADEC GND PWR/1(2) pushbutton switch is off.
(b) Put a WARNING NOTICE(S) to tell persons not to energize the FADEC 1(2).

(a) Put a WARNING NOTICE(S) to tell persons not to start the engine.

B. Install the Sling
(1) Put the ACCESS PLATFORM 2M (6 FT) in position.
(2) Remove the caps (8) from the left fan-cowl sling-points.
(3) Attach the IAE1N20404 SLING-FAN COWL DOORS745-4001-1GSE FAN COWL SLING to the HOIST 100 KG (220 LB) and the left fan cowl 437AL(447AL) (2).
4. Procedure(1) Put the ACCESS PLATFORM 2M (6 FT) in position.
(2) Remove the caps (8) from the left fan-cowl sling-points.
(3) Attach the IAE1N20404 SLING-FAN COWL DOORS745-4001-1GSE FAN COWL SLING to the HOIST 100 KG (220 LB) and the left fan cowl 437AL(447AL) (2).

A. Open the fan cowls (Ref. AMM TASK 71-13-00-010-010):
(1) FOR [1000EM1] (ENGINE-1)
437AL 438AR.
(2) FOR [1000EM2] (ENGINE-2)

B. Remove the Left Fan Cowl:
(a) Hold up the weight of the fan cowl (2) with the HOIST 100 KG (220 LB).
(b) Write a note of the positions of the bolts (5).
(d) Remove the bolts from the hinges.
(e) Keep the bolts (5) and the washers (6) for installation.
(f) Discard the nuts (7).
(2) Remove the left fan cowl and lower the cowl door on to the IAE1N20402 DOLLY-FAN COWL DOORS
Subtask 71-13-11-080-050-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL CAUTION:
BE CAREFUL WHEN YOU REMOVE/INSTALL THE BOLTS THAT HOLD THE FAN COWL DOOR IN POSITION. IF THE DOOR IS NOT HELD CORRECTLY, DAMAGE CAN OCCUR.
(1) Remove the hinge bolts from the left fan cowl (a) Hold up the weight of the fan cowl (2) with the HOIST 100 KG (220 LB).
(b) Write a note of the positions of the bolts (5).
NOTE: You must put the bolts (5) in the same positions at installation.
(c) Remove the nuts (7) and the washers (6) from the bolts. (d) Remove the bolts from the hinges.
(e) Keep the bolts (5) and the washers (6) for installation.
(f) Discard the nuts (7).
(2) Remove the left fan cowl and lower the cowl door on to the IAE1N20402 DOLLY-FAN COWL DOORS
C. Remove the Sling
(1) Remove the IAE1N20404 SLING-FAN COWL DOORS745-4001-1GSE FAN COWL SLING.
(2) Install the caps (8) in the left fan cowl (2).
(1) Remove the IAE1N20404 SLING-FAN COWL DOORS745-4001-1GSE FAN COWL SLING.
(2) Install the caps (8) in the left fan cowl (2).
