A. Safety Precautions
   (1) Do the procedure to prevent engine motoring

B. Get Access
   (1) Open the fan cowl doors (Ref. AMM TASK 71-13-00-010-802):
     (a) FOR [4020KM1] (POWER PLANT-DEMOUNTABLE, ENG 1)

     (b) FOR [4020KM2] (POWER PLANT-DEMOUNTABLE, ENG 2)

   (2) Put an ACCESS PLATFORM 1M (3 FT)-ADJUSTABLE in position.
4. Procedure
NOTE: There is one aft Hold Open Rod (HOR) on each fan cowl door. This procedure is for the removal of the aft HOR from the left fan cowl door. The procedure for the removal of the aft HOR from the right fan cowl door is the same.
Subtask 71-13-09-020-050-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
A. Removal of the Fan Cowl Aft Hold Open Rod (HOR)
WARNING: MAKE SURE THAT THE FAN COWL DOOR IS SUFFICIENTLY SUPPORTED DURING REMOVAL OR INSTALLATION. THE FAN COWL DOOR WEIGHS APPROXIMATELY 100 LBS (45.5 KG). IF IT IS NOT SUFFICIENTLY SUPPORTED, INJURY TO PERSONNEL AND/OR DAMAGE TO THE COMPONENTS CAN OCCUR.
CAUTION: WIPE CLEAN ALL PARTS AND TOOLS AS NECESSARY TO REMOVE UNWANTED DEBRIS AND PREVENT DAMAGE TO THE ENGINE.
   (1) Move the quick disconnect plunger on the aft HOR (1) away from the engine case bracket.
   (2) Disconnect the aft HOR (1) from the engine case bracket.
   (3) Remove the four nuts (2), four washers (3) and four bolts (4) that attach the aft HOR to the fan cowl door.
   (4) Remove the aft HOR (1) from the fan cowl door and the engine case.
   (5) Installation of the protection covers.
CAUTION: INSTALL PROTECTION COVERS ON ALL THE OPENINGS IMMEDIATELY TO PREVENT DAMAGE TO THE ENGINE.
     (a) Make sure that you install all the necessary COVER - PROTECTION to prevent engine damage.
