A. General
(1) Snow and rain can blow into the engine and form ice when the engine is not in operation. Ice can lock up the rotors to the stators. Ice can also cause rotor system unbalance.

B. Preparation of the Engine after Shutdown in Cold Weather
(a) Install a 636-1100-4GSE INLET COWL LIP COVER in the engine inlet as soon as possible after engine shutdown.
(b) Install a 636-4000-23GSE EXHAUST COVER on the common nozzle assembly exhaust when the temperature of the duct has decreased sufficiently, usually two to four hours after engine shutdown.
(c) Install 636-3000-11GSE TR C DUCT COVER
WARNING:
BE CAREFUL WHEN YOU DO WORK ON THE ENGINE AFTER SHUTDOWN. THE ENGINE CAN STAY HOT FOR A LONG TIME. IF YOU DO NOT OBEY THIS INSTRUCTION, INJURY CAN OCCUR.
CAUTION:
INSTALL PROTECTION COVERS ON ALL THE OPENINGS IMMEDIATELY TO PREVENT DAMAGE TO THE ENGINE.
CAUTION:
DAMAGE TO THE ENGINE CAN OCCUR IF SNOW AND RAIN ENTERS THE ENGINE DURING COLD WEATHER CONDITIONS. ICE CAN FORM AND PREVENT ENGINE ROTATION. ICE ON THE ROTORS CAN ALSO CAUSE ROTOR IMBALANCE. INSTALL INLET AND EXHAUST COVERS TO PREVENT MOISTURE FROM ENTERING THE ENGINE.
(1) When snow or rain occurs and makes ice, install the protection covers as follows: (a) Install a 636-1100-4GSE INLET COWL LIP COVER in the engine inlet as soon as possible after engine shutdown.
(b) Install a 636-4000-23GSE EXHAUST COVER on the common nozzle assembly exhaust when the temperature of the duct has decreased sufficiently, usually two to four hours after engine shutdown.
(c) Install 636-3000-11GSE TR C DUCT COVER
