A. General
(1) Always obey the procedures and limits in the specific maintenance tasks of this manual. The specific maintenance tasks and limits always supersede those in this standard practices section.

B. Contact Points and Wiring Harness Cleaning (With Pre-Clean)
(2) Wear synthetic rubber gloves when you do this procedure.
(3) Pre-clean the electrical contacts as follows.
(a) Apply a small amount of electrical contact pre-cleaner to each metal contact with a clean lint-free cotton swab.
(b) Permit the cleaner to stand for between 15 and 20 seconds.
(c) Flush the cleaner out of the connector with isopropyl alcohol (Material No.CP1041) or reagent grade isopropyl alcohol.
(4) Wipe the outside of the connector with a clean Textile-Lint free Cotton - (Material No.14SBA1) .
(5) Flush the connector two more times.
(6) Shake the connector to remove any extra cleaner.
(7) Blow dry the connector.
(8) Examine the connector and clean again as necessary.
(9) Apply a small amount of contact cleaner and coating fluid to each metal contact with a clean lint-free cotton swab.
(10) Permit to air dry for between 10 and 15 seconds minimum before assembly.
WARNING:
DO NOT SPRAY FLAMMABLE CLEANING AGENTS NEAR POSSIBLE IGNITION SOURCES. MAKE SURE THAT ALL ELECTRICAL POWER SOURCES ARE DISCONNECTED.
IF YOU DO NOT OBEY THESE INSTRUCTIONS, INJURY CAN OCCUR.
(1) Make sure that the electrical power is off and that there is no heat source to ignite the cleaner. (2) Wear synthetic rubber gloves when you do this procedure.
(3) Pre-clean the electrical contacts as follows.
(a) Apply a small amount of electrical contact pre-cleaner to each metal contact with a clean lint-free cotton swab.
(b) Permit the cleaner to stand for between 15 and 20 seconds.
(c) Flush the cleaner out of the connector with isopropyl alcohol (Material No.CP1041) or reagent grade isopropyl alcohol.
(4) Wipe the outside of the connector with a clean Textile-Lint free Cotton - (Material No.14SBA1) .
(5) Flush the connector two more times.
(6) Shake the connector to remove any extra cleaner.
(7) Blow dry the connector.
WARNING:
WHEN YOU BLOW DRY THE CONNECTOR, WEAR SAFETY GOGGLES. MAKE SURE THAT YOU POINT THE CONNECTOR AND AIR NOZZLE AWAY FROM YOUR EYES AND FACE TO PREVENT BLOW BACK OF THE CLEANING AGENT AND CONTAMINATION. IF YOU DO NOT OBEY THIS INSTRUCTION, INJURY CAN OCCUR.
(a) Blow dry the connector contacts with clean air at 30 psi (2.07 bar) maximum. (8) Examine the connector and clean again as necessary.
(9) Apply a small amount of contact cleaner and coating fluid to each metal contact with a clean lint-free cotton swab.
(10) Permit to air dry for between 10 and 15 seconds minimum before assembly.
