A. Safety Precautions
(1) Put a WARNING NOTICE(S) in the cockpit to tell persons not to operate the flaps or slats.
(2) As necessary, use the applicable SAFETY BARRIERS, specified by the operator's instructions and your local regulations.

B. Aircraft Maintenance Configuration
(1) Make sure that the flaps are fully retracted (Ref. AMM TASK 27-50-00-866-009).
(2) Install the 98D27803500001 LOCKING TOOL ZERO POS on the slat/flap control-lever.
(3) Put an ACCESS PLATFORM 3M (10 FT) below the applicable flap track 3 or 4, zone 532 (632) or 533 (633).

4. Procedure
Subtask 57-55-11-010-050-A

A. Lowering of the Flap Track Fairing

Flap-Track No. 3 & No. 4 Movable Fairing - Location and Detail ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL

(1) Remove the screws (2) and the top cover (1).
(2) Remove the bolt (9), the washer (10) and disconnect the end of the bonding strap (8).
(3) Remove and discard the cotter pin (6).

WARNING: SUPPORT THE UNIT/ASSEMBLY. THE UNIT/ASSEMBLY IS HEAVY. IF YOU DO NOT SUPPORT IT, IT WILL FALL. THIS CAN CAUSE INJURY TO PERSONS, AND/OR DAMAGE TO EQUIPMENT.

(4) Disconnect the flap track fairing:

NOTE: The weight of the flap fairings is approximately 18kg (40lb).

(a) Hold the movable fairing and remove the nut (3), the washer (4), the sliding bush (5) and the bolt (11).
(5) Lower the flap track fairing:

CAUTION: MOVE THE MOVABLE FAIRING SLOWLY. DO NOT LET THE MOVABLE FAIRING TURN TOO FAR VERTICALLY BECAUSE THIS WILL CAUSE DAMAGE.

(a) Carefully lower the movable fairing until it is held by the applicable ground support equipment.
