A. Safety Precautions
   (1) Put a WARNING NOTICE(S) on panel 114VU to tell persons not to operate the flaps or slats.
   (2) As necessary, use the applicable SAFETY BARRIERS, specified by the operator's instructions and your local regulations.

B. Aircraft Maintenance Configuration
   (1) Put the flaps in the fully retracted position (Ref. AMM TASK 27-50-00-866-009).
   (2) Install the 98D27803500001 LOCKING TOOL ZERO POS on the flap/slat control lever.

D. Get Access
   (1) Put the ACCESS PLATFORM 3M (10 FT)- ADJUSTABLE in position below the applicable flap tab hinge-fairing at flap tracks 2, 3 or 4, zones 531 (631), 532 (632) or 533 (633).
4. Procedure
Subtask 57-55-11-020-072-D ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
A. Removal of the Inboard and Outboard-Flap Tab Hinge-Fairings
   (1) Remove the inboard-flap tab hinge-fairing at the hinge 1A position as follows:
     (a) Remove the sealant with the SCRAPER - NON METALLIC.
     (b) Hold the front fairing (2) and remove the screws (3).
     (c) Lower and hold the front fairing (2) until the bonding strap (7) is disconnected.
     (d) Remove the nut (9), the washer (8), the bolt (5) and the washers (6) and disconnect the bonding strap (7).
     (e) Remove the front fairing (2).
     (f) Remove the aluminum foil (11).
     (g) Hold the rear fairing (1) and remove the screws (4) and (10).
     (h) Lower and hold the rear fairing (1) until the bonding strap (7) is disconnected.
     (i) Remove the nut (9), the washer (8), the bolt (5) and the washers (6) and disconnect the bonding strap (7).
     (j) Remove the rear fairing (1).
   (2) Remove the inboard-flap tab hinge-fairing at the hinge 1B position as follows:
     (a) Remove the sealant with the SCRAPER - NON METALLIC.
     (b) Hold the front fairing (23) and remove the screws (31).
     (c) Carefully push the front fairing (23) forward until it disengages from the bolts (24).
     (d) Lower and hold the front fairing (23) until the bonding strap (27) is disconnected.
     (e) Remove the nut (25), the washer (26), the bolt (29) and the washers (28) and disconnect the bonding strap (27).
     (f) Remove the front fairing (23).
     (g) Hold the rear fairing (22) and remove the screws (32).
     (h) Remove the aluminum foil (30).
     (i) Loosen the screws (21).
     (j) Carefully push the rear fairing (22) rearward until it disengages from the screws (21).
     (k) Lower and hold the rear fairing (22) until the bonding strap (27) is disconnected.
     (l) Remove the nut (25), the washer (26), the bolt (29) and the washers (28) and disconnect the bonding strap (27).
     (m) Remove the rear fairing (22).
   (3) Remove the outboard-flap tab hinge-fairings at the hinge 3A, 3B and 3C positions as follows:
     (a) Remove the sealant with the SCRAPER - NON METALLIC.
     (b) Remove the aluminum foil (63).
     (c) Hold the front fairing (61) and remove the screws (55) and (62).
     (d) Remove the front fairing (61).
     (e) Remove the aluminum foil (63).
     (f) Hold the rear fairing (53) and remove the screws (52) and (54).
     (g) Remove the rear fairing (53).
